How to change rear brakes and rotor on a 2011 Kia Soul

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I'll show you step by step on how to change the rear #brakes and rotor on a 2011 #kia #soul.
It's a long video but worth watching the whole thing.
BTW, I ordered Centric rotors but they sent me the slightly higher quality "stop tech" instead -same company.
Luv the video? - You can hit up the “super thanks” below the video!

Thanks! I found out how to do this. I know it’s not much but holy shit thank you. I usually have to watch 20 videos and combine them all in my head 😂.

Hi Walter, thanks for the super! Glad to help out. I try and make videos like this as comprehensive as possible but many don’t have the patience to watch a long video although it can help in the long run, thanks again!

Would this work for a 2012 Kia soul?

I believe the 2012 Soul is the same but cross reference the part numbers for both years.

    The rear isn’t a drum, it’s disc

It's both. The inside is a drum for the parking brake.

Didn’t do the slide bolts? All that and you skipped the slide bolts?

all that rust is because never did maintenance to those brakes parts. Mine 2012 is brand new, because Every 2 years I dissembling all parts, clean them and lube.

No good to put that grease on top of slide brackets, it will attract dust, and when is new the pads slide easy, that's why you can't put the pads on the caliper holder. Anti-seize is recommended under to avoid stuck.

Hi, that's Bosch synthetic brake lubricant I put on the "brake pad slide areas" that comes with a set of brake pads (on some sets that include hardware) and is made for that purpose. It's not regular grease, although I may have called it that in the video - don't remember. Here is how Bosch explains their brake part lubricant on their website: *Synthetic lubricant included in all applications* *this helps reduce resistance on sliding contact points* Here is the link to that page: www.boschautoparts.com/p/blue-disc-brake-pads-be619- Yeah, brake lubricant will attract dust, but it will still work. Anti seize is really for threaded bolts, not really brake hardware and can actually end up "seizing" the brake pads in place. "Regular grease" can also seize the pads contingent on what type of grease it is. Here is a reddit thread on that: www.reddit.com/r/MechanicAdvice/comments/ag4uqo/psa_please_do_not_use_antiseize_on_brake_jobs/ Although I'm not a certified or trained mechanic, I've been working on vehicles for over 30 years (my own used in the courier business), and probably have done hundreds of brake jobs. Yeah, sure, I've pushed maintenance intervals, but I like to adhere to basic protocols as much as I can. Thanks for your feedback tho - I see that you show emphasis on doing routine maintenance from the other comment, and I admire that.

@@ljshowto OHhhh. I've been using anti seize for 25 years and almost 12 different cars I had before. is not good at all add any grease on top of a new shim, because the pad will slide easy, and if it's Stanley steel won't need nothing. For threaded bolts you use blue tide Blue Thread Lock 242 Medium Strength Removeable Lock tight for Nuts, Bolts, Fasteners and Metals. Also I didn't see you putting any Loctite on any bolt, no even grease on the caliper or the piston

Did you read me comment? you said this: Anti seize is really for threaded bolts, not really brake hardware and can actually end up "seizing" the brake pads in place. -- I said this: Anti-seize is recommended under to avoid stuck. Can you read well or need glasses? I think you are confuse.
