As someone that changes their own oil, this is the most detailed video I've seen of an oil change yet. You literally went from start to finish, showed every step and even very good close up details. I've seen oil change videos skip showing where the drain plug is or draining the oil, but you put absolutely every step in! Many thumbs 👍🏾

Thank u bro !!!
1:30 This man knows his oil pans. BLAT BLAT
To reset the oil change light/message- put Jeep in RUN (Without starting) and scroll to the oil life screen and hit OK to reset the oil change interval..good video! doing this today on my wife's Jeep
Excellent detail in both the video and narration--easy to follow--well done, RB!

Thanks buddy. It ended up being the easiest of any vehicle I’ve ever done. Didn’t even need to jack it!

Well done, putting everything on top of your customer’s car hood, not worry about scratching it

I didn’t drag it off or push it on gently put it on and took it off if car gets scratched that easy then u will have holes with bird poop

I wouldn't have put that on a customer's hood though. That was a great, informative video though.
Always open the filler cap in the engine compartment first. This vents the system and the oil will drain much faster.

Yup
👍Just what I needed to know.
thanks for the video RB! this was very helpful. I only wanted to add that I attempted this job without removing the cover and it really was not possible to get the oil filter out of there unless you take it off. I saw another video that claimed you didnt need to jack up the car, you need to do that too lol.

Excellent video and much appreciated. (I may be wrong) But before I install any of my new oil Filters, I always dab my fingers in a lil oil and give the gaskets some lube. Seems to allow the filter to come off alot easier on the next change as well as preserve them a little? Keep up the good work amigo!

What are the required tools to remove the housing and the plastic engine cover?
@RBTheMechanic
2 жыл бұрын
10 mm socket with ratchet extension size of 3/8. And housing is 24mm with 1/4 drive ratchet
Good video thanks. No dipstick check? or did I miss that......

No u can do that if u like confirm it
Good video. I hate those plastic assembly for the filter with o-ring. It’s easy to break the plastic while removing the old o-ring. I prefer spin-on filter type. They don’t make cars as strong as they used to. This vehicule has plastic fuel rails, plastic valves covers, plastic intake manifold, and plastic automatic transmission oil pan. My 2010 Accord V6 still has metal valve cover, metal lower and upper intake manifold and aluminium oil pan for engine and transmission.

We had a 2017 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk 3.2 V-6 and that OEM plastic oil filter housing cracked at about 62,000 miles. We were going down the road and lost 5 quarts of oil before the check engine light came on. I thought I had seen some oil deposits on that on that stupid engine cover a little before it happened. It was a $1,000 repair for labor and parts. Keep an eye on that stupid housing. Especially in you live in a cold climate. It happened in wintertime, right after a cold snap where we went to -14 F.
I have a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk 3.6 4x4. Which oil and filter would be the best quality for my Jeep?
@RBTheMechanic

I would stick with Mobil 1
15/16” socket fits the oil filter cap

Do you think synthetic oil is good for this kind of jeep?
@RBTheMechanic

Yeah keeps the seals and gaskets well protected
Do you notice vehicles that run Mobil 1 burns oil between oil changes?

I been keeping eye look out for that I have notice somthing like that
@classicjay7786

@@RBTheMechanic check the pcv. And for some reason Mobil can’t get there oil evaporation issues corrected. There extended 15k oil burns even more. I don’t guess they designed it that way so you’ll add more oil and that will rejuvenate the oil additives over the interval of the oil change
@RBTheMechanic

@@classicjay7786 yeah I’m taking record of the Mobil 1 for customer that use it to see how much oil comes out after each oil change

Your suppose to only use pennzoil synthetic in all Chrysler products now. That’s the only oil brand approved for use!duh
Teach folks to use a 6-sided socket.
@AStanton1966

Usually, the crappy socket sets don't offer a 6-sided socket.
What % should you change the oil? right now my oil life is 16%
@RBTheMechanic
Жыл бұрын
Change it do it at 20%
@AStanton1966

Personally, I wouldn't let the oil life get below 30% without doing an oil change. Oil is cheap; motors are expensive.
Am I the only one who caught the 6 quarts in a gallon. I thought there was 4 quarts in a gallon

This butcher should have changed filter first! dirty oil drains down when you pull the filter out!, remove air intake to get a correct fit of 24 mil socket! to oil cap!!

Sometimes the more you monkey with something, the more you are asking for trouble. Just put a universal extension on if the angle is problematic.
I cannot believe folks don't know an oil change.

New cars can be different. I had a bmw and figured out, i couldnt change the oil myself because they suck the oil our vs drain it. So i came here to make sure jeep was back to basics so i can do it my self at the self help shop

Changing oil in boats you have to suck the oil out too. Guess people don’t maintain there boats either.
