How To Change Beta 4T (350, 390, 430, 500) Transmission Oil The Right Way| Confirmed by Beta USA

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Check out our line of Enduro Helmet chin mounts for action cameras - shop.wannabes.life
We show you the only right way to change the transmission oil in the later model Beta four strokes (350, 390, 430, 500) (confirmed by Beta USA) so that you don't burn up your clutch by under-filling the transmission.
Beta user manuals are poorly translated and conflicting and can lead you to fill the transmission incorrectly, I've burned four clutches following the manual and related "guidance" from various local dealers who didn't really know what they were doing.
As we show you in the video, you cannot rely on the "check plug" for determining the oil level and instead MUST pour in the FULL RECOMMENDED QUANTITY every single time or you will blow up your clutch.
I highly recommend the factory suggested oil type, MOTUL Trans Oil Expert 10w-40 transmission oil. Each transmission oil change requires at least 750mL of transmission oil, so buy a quart each time and make sure you have enough.
Using third party oils can lead to poor shifting, missed gears, and trouble finding neutral, I've tried a few and none of them work like the factory MOTUL in these bikes.
We also include confirmation from Beta USA in the video to document the oil change procedure we teach here. Finally, always recycle your old motor oil, let's make sure our kids have a planet to ride on too :)

    Partner, Thanks so much for this video. I bought my BETA 390 RRS second hand and am sure that the previous owner could have benefited from your experience. It did not have enough trans oil in the system. It has 800 ML now, shifts smoother and sounds better.

    The rekluse cover is a bit larger than stock. I saw in a rekluse review that you need to compensate with a bit more oil. I only know enough to bring up the question in case someone was wondering. You sound like you know your bike well so I look forward to a reply. Great video!

    Great point! The Rekluse clutch has 12 plates instead of the regular 6. They are thinner but the basket it a bit larger. Also to your point the case cover is larger so it would require a bit more oil. Not exactly sure how much but like we mentioned in the video it doesn’t really harm the system to overfill it a bit.

    @@ExtremeSportsWannaBes Yes, my 390 is a four stroke. But I do have the 2018 Beta 300RR Race Edition also but Im pretty sure the oil fill indicator is accurate on that bike. I remember measuring from a full bottle and it taking the recommended amount, which was also 750mls. Actually, I'm going to test my fill indicator when I change the oil later today to see how much oil it takes before it runs out.

    In fact, I did change the transmission/gear oil today. I used the oil fill indicator. The oil started coming out the hole fairly close to where it was supposed to, maybe a 100-150 mls short. And I added a bit more after I put the screw back in to bring it closer to the specified amount. So I'm not really seeing much of an issue. Obviously, if the bike isn't exactly level, it could throw off the measurement quite a bit when you use the oil fill indicator. Fortunately, I was using a new 1 liter bottle so I can easily determine how much oil I added.

    Good to know. I just got a Beta 390 RRS. I checked before riding using the side hole method. I had to add about 400 mls before it leaked out of the side hole. Wonder how much is in there now? Going to do the 1st oil change now. Thanks!

    Hello! I’m going to change the oil on my Beta. I have some questions. Do I need to buy a separate gear oil or I can just put the same oil as in the engine? Do you have to pour about 750 ml on both sides ( in engine and gearbox) so that makes a total of 1500 ml of oil?

  • @ExtremeSportsWannaBes

    @ExtremeSportsWannaBes

    2 жыл бұрын

    They recommend two separate oils. I always used both kinds as suggested. Yes, each side takes about 750ml

  • @ExtremeSportsWannaBes

    They are completely separated. They can only mix if the seal fails in between the two halves.

  • @delinquense
    @delinquense3 жыл бұрын

    No to confuse the issue but ..... what i did find interesting .... for the MOTOR oil change (not the transmission/gear oil)... if you don't follow the prescribed process in the Beta manual, you could end up with only 4-500 ml only in the engine, instead of 700+. You need to put some oil in, start the engine and let it run for a bit, then measure through the inspection window while the bike is idling! Can't say I knew that. Again ... maybe just better to put in the 750 ml from the start like the transmission. Whatever happened to oil dipsticks?

    @@ExtremeSportsWannaBes Has the same Recommendation of 800ml, so been at least making sure that much went back in based on the clear line on the motul bottle +/-. Even the photos were the same of the check hole in the manual you showed, so I'm guessing trans is similar or the same case at least. Great video, been something bugging me for awhile now, just thinking the check port isn't big enough to not get an air bubble trapped blocking the hole when the oil's cold enough.
