By the way I use aluminum foil and shape so it goes directly over the skid plate into the bucket. It works for me😂

It's also wise to put some oil on the fill cap as well to keep it from drying out i had this happen to me on my beta

You'd want to make sure you use silicone paste as engine oil is bad for rubber o-rings.

Instead of removing the fill check bolt each time, I just have a clean, dedicated 1L Coke bottle with a mark at 850mL. I fill it to that line with fresh oil and when the bike is drained and plug back in, simply dump the 850mL into the fill hole. No need to remove the fill check bolt and risk stripping it. Saves time too.

When filling the gear box with new oil you will notice the oil height bolt when removed the gear box takes exactly one Quart of oil before it starts coming out of the overflow hole. So duh, u don’t need to remove that bolt every time. Just a basic less work kinda heads up

On my Beta 300 I use a ty-down and to hold the bike at and angle so then I don’t have to remove the skid plate.

Interesting. for 2018 RR 300 gearbox oil is 10w-50 in the manual.

Always dumped full 1l oil bottle into the gearbox. Had 200 hours without issues...why so much fuss about the oil level in the gearbox?

That oil-check bolt is interesting. I am used to the little oil-check windows. Being able to drain excess oil from that bolt is a nice thing to have. Edit: Just realized the four strokes still have the window for engine oil, and the oil-check bolt for transmission oil... So why does Beta separate the engine and transmission oil on the four strokes? I've heard either Yamaha or Honda tried this back in the day and just went back to one oil for all.

Separating the engine oil and transmission gives you longer service intervals. For instance the 2019 Beta 390 4 stroke has an oil change interval of 30 hours which is pretty impressive.

Im so confused. You guys recommend 4 stroke engine oil for the 300 2 stroke transmission on your website. The bike calls for motul 10w-40 transoil. Why are you guys puting in 4 stroke engine oil?

A questione. 2 years ago on the last ride before getting hurt I changed the oil. A motul synthetic one. My question is that after 2 years last week I went riding it. I know it needs an oil change but in your opinion did I do any damage? Some o my friend said not to worry about it since is a synthetic oil and it does not go bad as the mineral one. I am waiting for the delivery guy to bring a case of the oil and then do the maintenance. Please help .

If you weren't doing anything "too crazy" and anything since then, I wouldn't worry about it. The sooner you can get that new oil in the better.

My beta dealer said do not use synthetic. It’s to slippery with the clutch plates and I found when I used it I hit neutral very often while riding. I use basic 10-40 like it says in the manual. Change it often and u won’t have issues.
