Your spins are honestly better than many (actually most lol) of the top skaters in the world right now. Would love to see more spin tutorials, they’re definitely my weakest point :/

I can travel around the world on my spins... they travel THAT much.. so this video was perfect for me. I'm amazed how good skaters can do complicated spins and change positions and not travel at all! All I do is a two-foot spin only.

Well, to be fair « top » skaters don’t execute their spins and other elements in the same circumstances. Repeating the same spin alone during a practice session is different than doing it in the middle of a program in front of a crowd just after exhausting jumps and running after the music to not lose the timing and get deductions.

I watched a video on that. They taught to put your blade on a flat surface gently (ex: table), and notice the curve of the blade. The rocker is the part that touches the surface and is the part where you want to be spinning on. I've tried that and it works. Should be around the ball of your feet.

Jacob Jarecki keep practicing your 2 foot spin and concentrate on finding the ball of your foot. Finding it on the two foot spin makes it easier to find it on the one foot spin. You can also concentrate on putting your weight on whichever leg will be your spinning leg. Doing this also helps to center your 1 foot spin later

Balance is very hard to find when learning spins, make sure you're spinning right under the toe pick, you're not doing any quick/rushed movements into the spin (everything should be gradual), having good posture and pushing enough into the spin. Hope these help!!

wow your spins are absolutely beautiful! i think my problem is the WAY skaters shift their weight onto their leg. im a dancer (ballet) for 10-11 years (im 14), and the way we use our rotaters and shift our weight is incredibly different. i heard that you need to even lift you hip to shift your weight properly, (meaning, if your left leg was the support and your right leg was the working leg, then your right hip would slightly pop up.)

Aww thank you! That means a lot!! 💗💗💗💗 Personally that's not what I think about when centering spins, I think more about working with the force and staying balance in the right place on my blade. @@Sofabar thanks it's improved a lot in the past year. I feel like my backspin is better than my scratch spin now. I think I'm not able to remember to keep my leg up long enough before it comes down and that throws me off balance. Also, going into it, my skate skids (even with a fresh sharpen). They tell us to do a half heart to enter before the three turn and I dunno I guess there's a lot of momentum for me or too much power. Assume it should feel light and easy, not incredibly difficult to balance. Have tried practicing on a basketball court with a spinner too, which kinda gave me a sense and had some transfer.

It's ok to spin on a little toe pick when you are first learning. That helps you locate that rocker and lift the heel. You want to try and only lightly scrape it so it doesn't slow you down. As you get better you will learn to back off slightly and lift the toe pick off the ice.
