    Your tutorials are the best! Could you do a video on off-ice jump training? I can do at most a single rotation ;/

    This is so helpful! I've been struggling with maintaining the backspin and I realised I haven't been controlling my left arm before I enter the spin! Thank you x

    This video is really helpful! I also want to mention that she is spinning on her right foot for her back spin, which is what most people do, but some people (including me) spin on the opposite foot. This often depends on handedness, so if you are right handed you most likely spin on your right foot for back spins (and left foot for other spins), like she does. If you are left handed, you most likely spin on your left foot for back spins (and right foot for normal spins). Of course, this isn't the case for everyone, so test out both feet for spins. I hope this comment is helpful! Good luck!

    I have my forward scratch, sit, camel, and layback but I don’t have my back scratch and it’s so embarrassing, I don’t know why it’s such an issue. I’m trying really hard. I try to incorporate how it feels to do a forward scratch and focus on keeping my body align but I just keep spinning on my heel and then I just end up stuck after a couple of revolutions. I’m trying to point my foot but it’s like I have no muscles in my right foot to force my foot to do what I want. When I look down on the ice after the spin, it just looks like really weak squiggly loops. Maybe I’m just not practiced enough, are there any exercises that help you stay on the ball of your foot

    Beautiful examples. What's really important that you depict really well is that a spin isn't really a spin. Rather, it's a very tight edge brought tighter and tighter into you're moving in a very small circle - but still a circle. To maintain that tight circular edge, you have to be on the most curvy part of the blade just behind the toe pick that allows the sharper angle of motion - feeling the weight on the ball of your foot. That's why free skating blades are curved after the toe pick and then flatten out in the back. Where you are on the blade determines how much of an angle you can skate. The flat back of the blade supports straight stable lines for long edges and landings and the front allows spins and turns.

    quick question is it harder to spin all spins forward or backwards???

  • @Sofabar

    @Sofabar

    5 жыл бұрын

    Well for basic spins, I can't really tell a HUGE difference, but for more advanced spin positions, for me backwards is easier, but for another skater it could be forwards. It really depends!

    Nearly killed myself trying these today, just can't seem to stop my blade from biting in and when my leg swings around I kind of just lose control of it. I guess I should focus on standard spins first.
