What would you say to young guys who have some serious fear issues about coming out? Lol even just perusing straight relationships, or any affection at all... I'm not even bad looking, but I'm just scared of showing love due to PTSD. Even though I know the LGBT community is welcoming, I'm frigiyer than Jack Frost.⛄ It's hard for me not to detail an essay about my mental situation, I've already deleted two or three as to keep it readable...

Makeing pride flags in games like Minecraft, researching things and saying it’s for a project if I get caught, colors, and listening to songs/watching movies and youtubers are what I’ve been doing. My mom and them are none the wiser. I’m out to one of my cousins and I’m going to schedule a hangout night with her to celebrate a little bit. I’m also out to online friends whom I talk to regularly and I’m planning to come out to my irl best friend.

I actually have a pride flag world in minecraft, I think my mom is suspecting I'm gay though because I had my noise canceling headphones in and she came into my room while I was writing a letter in the world about being gay and I turn around and she's there, she saw my pride world🥴

My suggestion is to see how they would react to an LGBTQIA+ person on tv or out in public, if you see someone watch how they react, if they dont seem bothered, you can try it a few more times until you feel safe. But dont feel pressured into coming out. Come out when you feel ready and your environment feels safe. It might also help to wait until you have the ability to provide for yourself so you can give them some space to process it or if things go wrong.

Being in the closet is so difficult. When I first started questioning I never really realised how hard this journey of figuring myself out was going to be. I know I am Lesbian but I don't know how my family will react to me telling them. I think my mum will accept me but I don't know about my dad, I think my grandparents will but you know different generation and all that 😐 It doesn't help that one of the only women in the media and on American TV (Ellen Degeneres) is leaving her show and all that other "cancel culture" drama is happening and it makes me sad. I am really struggling now 😢 She was the first woman that I saw that was gay that made me realise that what I was feeling was ok and that I could still be happy. I just don't know what to do with myself,sometimes I wake up and I feel like telling my mum but then I just don't and I have been up and down about it for months. It sometimes feels that I will be stuck in the closet forever 😢 I would like a girlfriend but fear is stopping me. I know this comment is personal but I really needed to get my feelings out . I hope you can understand.

A good example of a bold but subtle gay show is “The Owl House” where the main character Luz has a girlfriend called Amity. (That’s pretty much what the show says) But also not having that be the main plot, but there are little snippets of gay e.g when Amity kisses Luz on the cheek. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk

I'm 13 and I never really thought about me being part of the lgbtq+ community, plenty of my friends are so it has crossed my mind but I've never seriously thought about it. Another band that has has some nice LGBTQ+ content is The Crane Wives. A lot of their songs have really subtle gay undertones (and I mean REALLY subtle, so if people hear it they’re probably not gonna figure it out at all!), and plus their music is just amazing. They’re such an underrated band, too.

Honestly I’ve been In the closet for so long that I don’t think I’ll ever come out to my family. My family consists of my Christian mother and younger sister so it would suck to loose them because our beliefs are different. I’m not the most obvious gay person but I don’t try to hide it most of the time I just don’t bring it up unless there’s something to say like a joke. It’s a big risk and I’d rather be that one aunt who decided to never marry for some reason instead of the black sheep who was perfect in every way from grades to friends to activities and work and handling responsibilities but turned out to be gay, damning them all and throwing away everything they sacrificed because I “decided” to be gay.

Its wonderful how you value your family but sometimes its healthy to put yourself first, im not pressuring you into anything, and i think that you should do what makes you happy, any way you want. The way i see it, you only have one life and you should live it any way you want despite what others think of you, living like that is freeing. But i also think that you should decide for yourself. You know more than anyone what you need and want so you should do what you feel is right! also if you want, you can try to test the waters to see how your family reacts to homosexuality, like seeing a gay couple on tv and seeing what their reaction is. You should do what makes you feel safe in the end, finding peace with yourself and your surroundings can make everything better so its up to you and where you feel the most comfortable!

I'm scared to celebrate pride because my parents are Christian and they do not support LGBT at all and if I make it obvious I'm scared they are going to take me to church to “Get the disease out of me”, that is what they said when I asked what they would do if I became a lesbian and since I still live with my parents I have no actual free will So this actually helped *a lot*

For anyone who wants some animated subtle gay shows, there’s also The Owl House, and She-Ra.

As someone who's not out, but is a huge nerd: if you're the kind of person who plays D&D, Pathfinder, or other TTRPGs, you can create a character with your identity or even an LGBTQ+ identity and play them and if someone asks it's "just a game". For example, I actually have a nonbinary character I play because they give me an outlet for my identity as nonbinary. I also play a lesbian character due to my female attraction. As a DM, I even have many NPCs who are LGBTQ+, whether good, neutral, or evil and I portray them as PEOPLE first, while giving little subtleties that show their identities. So, nerdy pride month activity: DM or play in a LGBTQ+ friendly TTRPG group. Hell, make it year round. Albeit, I first started my campaign during, you guessed it, pride month!
