Kids Celebrate Pride NYC | Recess Therapy

Ойын-сауық

I went to NYC Pride and spoke to some absolutely fantastic kids about the power and necessity of radical love! These kids give me hope.

Watching this is so incredibly heartwarming. I’m 29 and I can’t imagine these conversations happening in the late 90s. When you see children being taught to accept themselves and those around them at a very young age, you can see it will reflect in other areas of their lives as they grow. There is no room for hatred or fear. They have so much love to give, and they will teach others how to give/receive love and accept all the beautiful differences! 💛🌈

i’m tearing up this is incredible to see the joy in their faces talking about who they are and how proud they are to embrace themselves and talking about the perfect experience of accepting people for whoever they are it makes me so happy especially when you consider i’m from a country that celebrating pride month with this much joy is impossible. we haven’t been able to celebrate it, even talk or post about it here in turkey for years, and we hear bad news from our friends who are a part of the queer community everyday. as much as it’s heartbreaking to think about our situation here, it’s really giving me hope to see this kids coming strong to change the world!! you put a smile on my face with this video :) no matter how hard the conditions are, we’ll take a stand and find a way to be ourselves. you might be on the other side of the world, but you give me hope, after all love is universal 🏳️‍🌈❤️

I never knew how much I needed to hear little kids talk about being nonbinary! It feels so wonderful, knowing that these days there are kids that are comfortable exploring who they are. I didn't realize I was nonbinary until I was like 17 or 18 (I'm 25 now), because I just didn't know enough about it until then! That's why it's so important to teach kids the different ways they can explore and express their identifies! Knowing that there are nonbinary children living as their true selves is just 😭 I'm so happy for them and proud of them!!!

Love for certain things causes pain. What one loves another will be disgusted by it. Pride is sexulaised to the point where it rules our mind. People can do what they want if they are a certain age, but sex has become so perverse that people will do anything to seem “different”. Makes zero sense

I think it's good to love and respect homosexual people since childhood, but the concept of " non- binary" doesn't come out of a kid naturally as homosexuality usually does. non binary is something culturally imposed , all kids actually are, as you are not so aware about your gender as a kid. I just think inforcing this " non binary" thing on kids, its a bit too much and completely unnecessary , as it gives them the idea that somehow they have to stick to it to be an special person, instead of just being themselves and growing up freely having no problem with being a boy or a girl.

As a child, I grew up with a lot of hate being casted on me by bullies. My Family loves me but they raised me in a very rough way. They made me distinguish between Love and Hate. I like Pink Color, I like Disney Princesses but I equally like Militarism and all Military Stuff and military history. This isn't love. THIS AIN'T FANTABULOUS. KIDS SHOULD BE TAUGHT HOW THE WORLD WORKS. NOT WHO THEY ARE FROM THE START. NOBODY KNOWS WHO THEY ARE UNTIL THEY DO SOMETHING AND DISCOVER THEIR ABILITIES AND SKILLS. WHAT YOU'RE PROMOTING IS PERVERSION, DIVISION AND STEREOTYPING OF LGBTQ+ PEOPLE

@@lunar.1-y1i If you're so against "brainwashing children" then why are you okay brainwashing them with heteronormative stuff? And "leave it until they're teenagers" -- so, what, just expect no one to use pronouns for them for 13 years minimum and never let them have any crushes until then either? You really think that's a healthy way to raise kids?

This is awesome to watch! I remember wanting polly pockets as a kid, but I wasn’t allowed as they were for girls. And these kids are all encouraged to be themselves, to love and let love, and to spread acceptance and happiness. Imagine what our world would be now if this is how kids were encouraged to be 70 years ago. I’m excited to see the future

Thank you so much, Julian (and the rest of the recess therapy team), for being able to create such amazing videos. I keep coming back to watch this one, mainly after being exposed to a lot of homophobic/transphobic opinions, just because of the pride and happiness these kids are able to display, and the lack of visible hate comments towards this video. I know you probably won't see this amidst all the other comments everywhere, but thanks for making recess therapy such an inclusive space. Keep up the great work!

It’s very hard watching this coming from a very conservative country and family. I’ve been told my whole life that this is not okay, not “normal”. It’s weird to watch kids be exposed to this stuff. Just so you know, it’s 2023 and recently I’ve filled in a social survey the last question in which was “Do you think we should teach sexual education in schools”. My answer, of course, was a resounding YES. But you know, what? Even if it’s a faze in these kid’s lives, even if they change their minds and become something else later on, it’s okay! They are exploring, and that’s wonderful. FanTABulous, if I dare say so myself:)

This was a very heartwarming comment, I’m incredibly proud of you for even somewhat understanding and I guess "pushing" against what you’ve been told your whole life and thinking for yourself. Even if you find it somewhat weird, which would make sense since it goes against your upbringing, it’s refreshing to see someone understand the other side is what I’m trying to say.
