How to Catch Yellowtail Snapper - Fishing with Oatmeal
Learning to catch delicious yellowtail snapper doesn't have to be difficult. One of our favorite techniques to landing these fish, which have excellent eyesight, is using oat balls or oatmeal to cloud the water, get your bait past the blue runners & bait fish and hopefully start a feeding frenzy! In this video we go over targeting yellowtail snappers at the deep reef and also the shallow patch reefs. Just remember to always experiment with your jig sizes based on current!

As a father of an amazing daughter angler, thank you guys for showing that girls can fish! I also love the fact that you guys aren't objectifying yourselves and fishing in a bathing suit. You're making your Dad proud, I promise!

I’m a 23 year old guy and I absolutely love the fact that it’s all about the fishing. Hate seeing women do that to themselves, these girls are the example to follow!

I have to say that ya don’t need bathing suits. Honestly, I’m a 14 year old boy and the bathing suits have strangely always acted like a deterrent. (If your wondering, this is my moms account)

Oatmeal!?! At 77 years old, you’re never too old to learn cost-effective techniques. Great podcasts!!!

Awesome!! Thanks for watching
I did it for the first time a few weeks ago, and it worked.
I love the fact is they know what they are doing. Not waitting for someone to help them. They are showing. Young ladys can fish. And be proud of it. Plus they are having fun

Mate it’s not a sexist thing , females fish all the time but some young ones don’t want to get their fingernails dirty and don’t like touching fish .
One step heavier than Emily's "oh, I am Emily". That was twin talk for sure.

You guys are so great together... always in sync and having so much fun. I missed the Ft. Lauderdale boat show because I was out of state. But, I really hope to get a chance to meet you at a future event. Keep on having fun!
New to the channel. I love the way you instruct/teach. You repeat yourselves several times especially on the important issues/material. My 10 year old grandson and I have become fans. Great info, great delivery, and wonderful modesty on your dress code. One last matter on your pedagogy, both of you speak with authority and obvious experience. Can’t say enough about your choice of subject matter, teaching skills, and how much you love what you’re doing. Blessings to you both!!

If I was an identical twin I'm pretty sure I'd be calling myself my own name too. So funny. Love your videos.
I love watching you two, I spent years of my life fishing the Keys ( and a small fortune) with no regrets. I would never say anything negative about others following my footsteps, so take this as something we can all learn from. I see you guys storing you hooks in the eyelets on your poles as opposed to putting your hooks in the eyelet stands. This can damage the eyelets and chafe your line, I learned the hard way. Keep up the great vids!
I wouldn't have believed you could go Fishing with Oatmeal unless I saw this video. Well done, Amanda and Emily!
Great video.. I really like the fact that you guys not only fish but also show how to fillet the fish and cook them. Keep up the great videos you guys!
I am not surprised that this technique works, but I am very surprised anybody ever figured out to do this. I always enjoy your videos. Thanks
You guys are awesome. I said to my self, "there's no way that oatmeal ball is going to stay on that hook", then came the leader wrap. Genius!!! I'm going to try that up here in the Northeast, except these colder water fish like their oatmeal with cinnamon and raisins. 😉
always learn a lot from you two
You girls put a smile on my face you pair a so bubbly great vid love the effort you put in keep it up
Oatmeal!! Wow! That's is so cool!
I use oatmeal all the time mullet fishing, add some flour and you really can get a tight dough ball and get a very nice cloud from the flour while it sinks.
Hello , we use oats ,sand and chum and you wont need to wind up the leader as its stickier. Amanda was the SNAPPER MASTER of the day ! GREAT JOB !
Good job ladies!!👏
I also freeze my scented oats in blocks and use it like frozen chum. Works nicely....
Your smiles are addictive
We love y'all! great teachers. Ive learned so much from y'all!
Too much fun. Press On!!!
Used this technique two weeks ago off Duck Key! Unbelievable how well it worked to trick yellowtails in the ultra-clear water...

Great job, love watching your videos.
That was a very good demonstration on how to yellowtail. Kind of different from how I do it. I thaw out a Chum block, add oats and sand with a little Saltwater. Your way is much simpler and very effective. I think I'm going to make it my go to Chum. Thanks

Anther great informative video!!!

I looooove eating yellow tale !!! You girls are the coolest 😎
Love your videos
Such a wild technique- wonder who figured this out first
Hi
Hanapa'a 🤙
I like how you gals work a system.
Amanda, Emily this almost like fishing for fresh water cat fish using corn meal and flour, we just don't wrap the line into it. Thanks for your informative videos. Rock Port, TX #AFANALWAYS
In the past I would make stink bait with mostly flour , chicken livers , and oil so basically aged sourghdough chicken liver dough for fish and a few times I had to use oatmeal with flour due to running out of flour but it didn't seem to lessen the strength of the dough which when dough is done right it has lots of gluten in it which makes it strong like rubber . What I just told you is just an option to make it stay on your hook a little longer or another option is to wrap it up in panty hose which I may start using oatmeal in panty hose or using oatmeal ( maybe even use oatmeal/algae ) for cast net bait since it works so well for ya'll so Thanks in advance !
You two are Badass...
Awesome
You know, when you fish for catfish in freshwater, you can use the same principle, except you use raw dough. It's called a "stinkball" and the catfish swallow and hold the stinkball in their mouths to put their scent on it. Have you tried the same thing with dough? It might hold up better in saltwater. Manny F.
Been fishing with oat meal balls for 40+yrs up here in Michigan for carp using pepsi, mntdew, water with vanilla extract works great
cool show!
I did this In Mexico. It works well because it looks like scales.

I am going to use this the next time we loose the bite. I usually have a large pill bottle filled with old dried dog food in my bag. Fill a mesh bag and send it to the fish, but that takes forever to soften up. By the time it does the pike or turtles usually rip the bag apart. 👍🎣thanks for the idea. Fish on!!!
10:20 - hahaha when the twins can't even tell who's who
Male birds are always the more colorful to attract a mate and females are more drape and subdued coloration for camouflage on the nest.
Very cool :)
I've seen your oats ball before but 5his video is impressive I was just telling my friend I would like to do this with muscles crab and shrimp I belive it will step up my game at least 30 percent more
WOW.. what a life..

I can see how having your oat balls ready ahead of time could be a good thing, make them up with line already to go and freeze them if needed.
I wanna know who is flying the drone? Fun day. Non-stop action.
Guys that's another fund and cool vid to watch. I have seen almost all the videos of you guys today i have noticed something important that you guys are missing. Please do wear life jackets while your on the water.
Another great video. What is the gear setup? Reel size, rod and braid? Thanks!
Great vid, my favorite part... "OH... What? NO!" Third person view a drone? To still to be another boat. Ornithology lesson too. How do I get on the rainbow runners?
My dad always talks about you. He tells me to learn from you.

Would grits work instead? I'm a Northerner so _I_ prefer to eat the oatmeal myself LOL Seriously though, very informative video as always ladies. Question for you regarding your _other_ gear, what are you using for a microphone when you're out on the water? Putting it bluntly, some of the other channels I watch have REALLY crappy audio at time.
hello I love your videos by the way what side os your boat 🚢look amazing
Ever try soakin the oats in menhaden oil?
Great video. I’m new at this. One question, were you anchored or drifting?

Excellent! Good for you!!
I have seen in a number of your videos that you have a chum net over the side of the boat. Do you use oatmeal in that chum net or do you use other chum depending on what you are fishing for?
@GaleForceTwins
3 жыл бұрын
Just regular chum! But only when we are anchored and fishing for snappers!
Ignore my previous question as I just noticed that your anchor was down. Thank you.
Works a lot better if you mix one box of already thawed out chum in with it and a little bit of menhaden oil in the water to soak into the oats
Unreal I wonder if that would work here in Hawaii
Here in malaysia the snappers prefer nasi lemak 😂
