How To Catch MONSTER STRIPED BASS ON LIVE BUNKER - Live Bait Fishing

Спорт

Started bunker fishing the other week and here was a nice one I snuck in with my charter. Probably high 20lb low 30lb class.
Rod used here is a Daiwa Saltist 6'6" M Power and a Daiwa Saltist 20H with 80lb Suffix Braid. 40lb leader and a 10/0 Gamakatsu Octopus Hook. I mention that I am placing my hooks through the front of the bunker. My two favorite placements are bottom jaw through front of the mouth or nostril to behind the eye. Both of these placements change the bunkers behavior very drastically. Different conditions warrant different hook placement.
I don't do the dorsal fin much from the kayak since I typically am on the move most of the time. Dorsal fin seems to be deadly on fish feeding n the flats or boat drifting.

Look for disturbances on the surface of markings on your fish finder. Throw bunker snag into the school. Reel and rip. Reel and rip. Take bunker off snag.

If you use the mouth closed method, and it eventually dies, it’s gonna float back up to the top of the water quickly? Right? Because it’s dead?

I didn't see it in your video but when you are trolling a live bait like this do you have to do a hook set or does the forward motion set the hook for you. Thanks

Yeah had the girth for sure. Was about 38"/39" feasting on bunker. Guessing high 20 pound class pushing 30. I don't go crazy with measurements or weights on a nice fish unless I know it's THAT big. My main concern is getting just a shot of it quick and sending her off without killing it.
