How To Catch & Cook Yellow Perch - Lake Michigan | Field Trips Wisconsin

Спорт

In this episode I'm linking up with my friend Jon Sowl to chase a new species to me: the beautiful and DELICIOUS yellow perch. We'll be going over rigs and tactics for catching them in Sturgeon Bay before frying them up in a delicious beer batter with sides made of fresh ingredients from Jon's garden.
Comment below and tell me your favorite way to cook up yellow perch! And who has suggestions for artificial lures to throw at these guys? Also, what else is worth fishing for in the Great Lakes or Minnesota?

This video and the last brought back some great memories of this summer, yak fishing for pike and perch and campfire cooking while exploring new waters in North Dakota. All on artificials and without a fish finder, so every lake was a puzzle. The rewards were amazing.

A little lesson in math, the farther you cast a slip bobber out the longer rod you need in order to set the hook good. With a 6-6 rod you should not be casting more then 15 feet from the boat to get a good hook set. That is why my shortest perch rod is 8 feet long and my longest are 14 feet long. And yes i get walleyes and shephead that way also.

I love perch and fishing for perch. Sadly, in the vid it appears you show very little respect to the creatures. They are being tossed around fully alive, kept out of the water. Why not give them a quick whack over the head and end their suffering a little more humanely? Some of them look borderline alive while being filleted. Otherwise great video, thanks as always.
