I had a live trap trying to catch a Houdini raccoon but he kept jumping the trigger and eating the bait. Solution was to set a mouse trap inside with peanut butter and when it smacked his nose he jumped and hit the trigger, got him! FYI trappers

I can tell how not to catch one... Lol. We had a smoke house(old)behind the house at the farm. Good friend and I saw a dillo go under it one night. He ran to the truck and got a hoe. Long handled. We were standing on the same corner on opposite sides. He decided to take that hoe handle and ran it under the smokehouse. That thing came out on my side and went up my leg to my waist, I kid you not! Now I'm a country girl so I can handle most things but I screamed like a banshee it scared me so bad. I was NOT expecting that. My friend fell over literally on the ground and laughed FOREVER. 😂 I laughed too but not as much as he did.... Lol God rest his soul. The Lord called him home about 3 years ago. We had lots of fun at that farm. Sorry such a long post.

I think you can use a piece of asphalt (black Top in Jasper County, Ms) as bait. They bound to eat that as many as you see on the road.

Hi. Enjoyed your video. Armadillos are driving me crazy digging up my yard! I didn’t know opossums dug holes like a dillo does. What do I use to secure boards if I don’t have wire stakes? Btw, I caught an opossum in it but let it go bcuz they help create anti-venoms for snakes & scorpions

David , if u see this.. what do u recommend for me... I got raccoons, possums, and cats , I need to kill the armadillos, but I don't stay up late enough for go out and shoot um. Should I just guide them into my metal trap? Maybe around the torn up yard? I don't know what to bait it with bc of the coons, possums, and cats that I don't want to catch... but I just need one to use ur cardboard method.. should I guide it in & hope for the best ?

Are you saying using bait (mealworms, sardines, eggs, fruit, spoiled meat) is a waste of time? Are you saying the only thing that makes them go in the trap is if it has the scent of armadillo? Most of us don't have scented cages, so cages would be a waste of time for most of us. Also, what do you thing about repellants? Do they work or are they a waste of time? I've read castor oil, cayenne pepper and vinegar are best for repelling them. What say you? Also, do you know if an air (BB) gun with a CO2 cartridge is enough to kill an armadillo or pierce its armor?

Don't know if anyone sells wooden ones, but you can google the plans. The biggest tool you would need to build one is a circular saw. If you can build a 12 x 12 x 40 inch box, you can build this trap.

@noahsmith8988 Many years ago, armadillos had burrowed under a structure that contained all the water and waste plumbing of a house we used as a hunting camp. It was under a house built up off the ground. Decided the armadillos had to go or all the gravel used as insulation was gonna spill out. Put plywood over all their holes but one. Put a hose in the last hole. Turned on the hose and waited. Took a lot longer than I expected for the first one to appear. Shot him in the head at point blank range with a 1911. Then the next, and the next and then they were lifting up some of the plywood and coming out. What evolved in those few minutes is still described as the great armadillo shootout. Even though shot in the head, they still bounce around. Kicking those away and shooting the next one.
