Brilliant tutorial video! I learned this style of cast on as a child & don't see many people showing this method here in the US. I use long tail cast on for smaller projects esp. corner to corner knit wash cloths like Grandma's Favorite Knit Washcloth. However, I'm making a larger cloth that isn't corner to corner & have just swapped my 4 mm needles for 3 mm. Now I have no idea how long to leave the tail for cast on! With this method, we don't have to worry about not having a long enough measure of yarn to make enough cast on stitches. It's ideal for an easy start without guesstimate calculating.
