Not many things can grab my attention in life the way you and your videos have. Sat on my floor with a drape cloth down and rewound this video over a thousand times thoroughly following step by step and the feeling I got when my owl turned out was special. Can’t stop looking at this little owl you helped me make. I can’t thank you enough. Seriously the most proud of myself I’ve been in a very long time

I stumbled across this video 4 days ago. Since then, I’ve watched almost all of your carving videos. Yesterday I went to my local wood shop and picked up a knife, strop and some bass wood. You’ve inspired me to try a new hobby. Currently I make furniture and small projects from reclaimed lumber. This will be a nice addition to my hobby that doesn’t require power tools and a lot of setup. Thanks for the wonderful videos. I’m looking forward to learning how to carve!

i loved playing with wood when i was a kig, i loved building stuff with left overs from the furniture factory nearby...i loved the smell of cut wood, of forests, love to explore the nature and i always wanted to do something with wood, work with my hands. As i rent a flat i always dreamd what i will do in my own house when i will have it. By chance i found your channel and i can see i just need a corner of a table to enjoy this hobby. thank you Doug.

those 46 dislikes are people who tried to be cool didnt wear the glove and cut themselves badly A&E badly, wear your gloves folks they make you even feel more confident about the cuts your making' its the feeling you need to grasp once you have that you can literally think up a carving in your head and do it safely with or without gloves but id highly recommend gloves they are called steel mesh carving gloves and please buy good ones . thanks Doug youve helped alot .

I started following you for the camping, but you have turned me into a carver. I have always wanted to try your little men, but I have been doing spoons until I get a feel for the basics. This little owl, I think, will be my first caricature. Someday, you need to do a meetup/class. I'd love to attend.

@@dougLinker for me I find it easier from a book then a can really go at my own pace, also it's a pain in the butt stopping and starting a vid with gloves on.

@@thenurse46 just hit the space button to pause, it can't be hard with gloves it's the biggest key on the keyboard and there's nothing below it you can literally hit it with a hoof :) well I just thought that you might be watching on a phone/tablet so this won't help you lol

Doug, loved the little owls so much I made a dozen for the children at Church and will make more, they will love them as much as I do making then. I still like my Smokey Mountain comical Bears at 6” tall but they are more involved. Actually they are original to a fine carver from Townsend TN. Keep em comeing my friend God bless
