I'm a firefighter with 35 years experience. I think you and your viewers would be well served by a discussion of fire safety when using linseed oil. The combination of rags and linseed oil is potentially a bad one. If not handled properly the oily rags can spontaneously combust. Avoiding this is fairly easy. I always wash my rags in soapy water, allow them to dry in the sun and then throw them away. Never, ever wad up a oily rag and store it in a drawer or other closed space. They will ignite. I have seen more than one shop or garage burned to the ground because of this. Anyway, good presentation on tool handle use. Thank you.

I have a spokeshave but it came out of the package very dull. I tried to sharpen it but was not successful.

Thank you for your excellent video. An explanation please if you would. You have an excellent discussion of raw versus boiled linseed oil. The product you then use is danish oil , which by definition is linseed oil, varnish, and thinner. It is a distinctly different product than boiled linseed oil. Was this intentional?

Check out buckin billy ray he uses watco oil religiously and you are correct he does seem to contradict what he says about the two oils. Cheers

If you are not a wood worker then why are you telling people to use a spoke shave to wittle down a perfectly good handle ? You just shortened the life of the tool greatly! 11:43
