Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Hey guys, this video is probably much needed one that I have finally been able to put together for you. Many people struggle to gain or build their chinchilla's trust, and it is a normal process that can take some time depending on your chinchilla. Hopefully these tips can be of help to you. Daily sit on the floor in the same room with your chinchilla for about an hour or more. I lay on the floor listening to music or talking on the phone each night. This is an excellent video with EXPERT advice!

    I like just sitting in front of the cage with the door open and when my chin comes up to me I scratch her under the chin and round the head then I give her my hand and she'll start softly nibbling at it like she were grooming another chinchilla. It's so cute she'll even start softly chirping.

    Spending time is a big one. I have mine on a schedule of sorts, so that nomatter what I have to do, I am with them three times a day. They seem to love it. I can hear them running right before I enter their room to the top of the cage. They wait for me to talk to them or feed them or give them something to play with. the only thing I would add is, if possible, have their cages where they can see out a window or a hallway. Also, having a source of quite(classical) music is also a plus. Mine love it and will crip if the music gets turned off for any reason. Gotta admit, It's kind of funny how mad they get. *I also never handle them unless I absolutely have to. It's fine to let them crawl on you, but they are feeder animals, and will always posses a flight response. Handle with the upmost care; they are made of glass.

    I'm a new chin owner, my chinchillas are named Snow and Ash and I adopted them from a shelter and at first before I saw this video I had no clue how to build their trust... They were so scared! Then when I watched this I realized, I DEFINETLY TOOK THE WRONG APPROACH! So I tried some of these and I have started to gain their trust! Thank you so much! I appreciate you taking the TIME and effort to make these videos! Merlin is so lucky :) But thank you so so so MUCH!!! (I've only had them for about 4 weeks) Their always so active I really enjoy their company. So happy I got chinchillas! I knew I needed 2 because I am starting school soon and I know how much attention they need. On the weekdays I wake up at like 4:30 AM to get ready for Zoom (Just the top half of my body LOL) Then I open their cage and let them run around if they want to while I clean the cage. They love running around! I am a writer (Trying to be) and everyday I just sit down for a few hours and let them run around (I check on them of course) And I also have a Syrian Female Fancy hamster named Luna! She's pretty easy to take care of! I also have a Lionhead bunny (Male) named Obsidian. (cleaning is always so challenging lol) for the time being I have Obsidian staying in my brothers room, just so he doesn't frighten the chins. Sorry I wrote so much! Just wanted to say THANK YOU!!!!

    We had a bad start, when my chillas arrived one of them wasn't feeling well so I took her to the vet. She had some bacteria or similar, which shouldn't be there so I had to administer meds 3 times per day for approx two weeks. They wasn't used to being hand reared from their earlier home so this must have been very scary to the little girl. She is still the one who is most negative to my hands, but happily runs over my head and shoulders :) Thx for the advice, I'll not try to reach out for her at all anymore. Don't do it often, but maybe she'll forget the tough days if I just let her be for a while.

  • @soldancer

    @soldancer

    I had a very similar experience with my new chilla. She's still new to my home, about a month, and after the first couple of weeks, she developed an abscess that needed draining. She had actually been warming up to my wife and me fairly quickly, but then we had to take her to the vet and then give her oral liquid medicine twice daily. I really started to worry about damaging the trust we'd built by having to grab her and squirt medicine in her mouth. But we continued trust exercises and eventually realized that she would just come up to me and let me give the medicine to her directly with no need to have to hold or restrain her first. She's been off the medicine only a couple days, but she's already warmed right back up to us. Maybe we just got lucky that we have a sweet and trusting chilla baby, but I like to think that the consistent trust work really helped maintain a good relationship through that scary time.

    This helpful, I am considering getting a chinchilla, I already have animal that is already kind of skittish a hedgehog, it took a couple of weeks when I got her last year but she bonded with me and became pretty social she was very well behaved when the vet gave her, a check up and when she looked at her to make sure she was alright last February when she got hurt so she is good with everyone. So spending time near the cage, talking to it softly, offering treats and spending time with it, is just like my Mocha, but a chinchilla doesn't have quills like Mocha, but can be just as skittish.

    My chinchilla loves climbing all over me. Started on the floor but now he will climb me even when I'm sitting upright in a chair! He waits until I'm not looking or I fall asleep, never when I see him coming. Up my legs, arms, shoulder, and head. Arms out, he will run hand to hand behind my head! Be careful as mine loves to jump and will leap 3 feet (90cm) onto the kitchen table or counter! No fear! The are natural climbers and jumpers. Make sure to sit close and safe with a safe landing areas, a towel or rug zone doesn't slip, or far far away. Go slow and let your chinchilla come to YOU.

    I need your help, as soon as I got my chinchilla she started biting me for no reason. Like when I try to pet her she bites my nails. It’s stressing me out a lot and I feel like it’s all my fault like I did something wrong.

    I have 2 chinchillas and one is crazy and energetic and she likes to explore (or trying to escape) and the other is kind of curious about things around her, but she likes to stay in one corner of her cage. Not sure how to help her get engaged in activities without stressing her out.. help!!! 1st time chin owner.. I just had to save them from the pet store after I saw how they were treated by unwatched kids.. they have toys, chew sticks and a decent sized cage until I upgrade this week to a bigger one

    they might think you have something for them to eat and they first come to investigate but dont want physical interaction, try placing a treat high on your wrist or forearm forcing them to get used to hand to walk on to get the treat, start with very small treat or break biscuits into pieces

    That intro was so eerie e.e. My chinchilla Toyo’s trust is very quirky. Sometimes he doesn’t want to be bothered and sometimes he gets very hyper and sexual . When I first met him with the breeder, he was scared and would always pee on me in 2016. Now his bond with me is quirky and when i shake the dust bath, he gets very excited. I would like to know how i clean my chinchilla because he has black wax in his ear and I am stuck and do not know what to do?

    I’m bonding with my chinchilla now and I use his bath house as a hide in the corner and he won’t come out of the bath house until I look away or cover my face then he runs up, sniffs my arm and runs away. Is that bad?

    Amy He Here is the link for a cheaper one. I’ve never tried it or anything so I can’t guarantee it’s a good one but it’s the right size and a little bit cheaper than a chin spin. Make sure its not a kind with pieces of "treats" in it. They'll pick out the colorful bits. It really is 2 tablespoons unless they are under 6 months old. Then they get as much as they want. You can get a kitchen scale that weighs in grams and monitor their weight. If they start to lose weight then they need a vet.

    Hopefully you know the answer now, but from experience it’s definitely fine but make sure you give him playtime preferably outside the cage under your view, chinchillas over 8 months or so you should get him a wheel so they can still exercise
