thanks for the step by step guide I had no instruction's for a older 57 kit called far out street cruiser that I got from my dad years ago because of you its just about done. Thanks for the vid keep making them they come in handy.

Don - That's true - any kit with opening doors and trunks are going to take patience. -Doug

This is the original 57 Bel Air that Revell produced in 1962. Thankfully it has changed little since then, just a few option parts added. I built the 1973 release, detailing it according to the box art, with bright yellow body color and white/chrome accents. The pleated door inserts of this release are a welcome addition; they weren't offered in 1973, though they match the trunk interior. The kit is not as well-engineered as its contemporaries, but the opening doors and trunks are big features for this kit and should be made use of, to showcase the well-detailed interior spaces. This kit is not cheap, but it is a true Revell classic.

The Revell 57' Chevy Bel Air was first released in 1963. The metal axel and front wheel pins are replaced with plastic parts which can be a problem. The lack of the skinny rear slicks could also be a problem if you want to build it as a drag version.

i didnt finish what i was going to say, there's a better product out there, cheaper and easier too work with nashua 322 multi-purpose hvac foil tape, 10 yard roll about 5.00 lowe's, homedepot, just about and retail store...bmf is to hard to work with, you really did a good job

It depends on what you want. This is the latest release of an old, venerated, classic model kit. As such it needs a lot of work. If you're looking for an accurate scale curbside replica that builds up quickly without a lot of issues, Revell, Monogram, AMT and even MPC produce cheaper kits that are more accurate than this one. Cheers.

The Bare Metal is very difficult around the window trim. Due to the age of the kit the molding is not crisp at all. The overall trim on the kit is getting "muddy". It is a re-pop and is showing it's age. Thank you for your comments.

Alfredo, eu pedi feedback sobre um pedido para enviar alguns kits de modelos gratuitos, mas lamento dizer que todos disseram que é muito caro enviá-los para o Brasil. Às vezes, isso custa de 2 a 4 vezes mais. como o kit. Eles também criaram problemas na alfândega e muitas vezes o destinatário nunca recebe o pacote. Eu não acho que seremos capazes de ajudar dessa maneira. Te agradece. -Doug

I didn't like this kit it don't fit right i had to make most if not all parts fit!for being a Revell kit this one was very bad Revell always has very good quality control but this one to me didn't meet Revell quality from 1to10 ten being the best this kit to me is 4 ! If you get this kit expect to take a long time to build and there's a lot of making fit parts or fabrication to make!in this video looks easy but its not you will find out when you see it in your table,, you may start but you may not finish like me I just lost interest! Thank you God bless!

Very true Jose, this reissue kit is WORSE than the original, lots of fit issues, poor quality.

Binned it today, what a crap kit. Box full of flash instead of sprues. Bad fitment especially rear bumper, not worth buying.

The kit goes back to 1962 and is rightly considered a classic kit today (working features, amount of chromed parts, depth of detail) which, in spite of the engineering issues and the age of the molds, still produces an impressive-looking model with great visual appeal. The kit has been re-released many times over the years, almost each time with a few new parts; this kit was originally released as a racer and then a highboy/gasser, so any parts designed to retro-fit it to a stock configuration will fit poorly. To be sure, the kit is designed more along the lines of a toy than a faithful scale replica... I guess some people will still prefer a 1987 Nissan Sentra, as long as there isn't too much cleanup involved, and it's molded in a pretty color. I built my first '57 Chevy (1973 release) in the late 'seventies (they molded it in black back then) and it had all the same issues it has today. But it hooked me on classic Revell car kits and today I'm looking for all the old gassers and highboys Revell produced (got most of them). Today these kits are not cheap, and frankly, it's surprising to see this particular kit re-released at all, given the massive amount of plastic it contains. I guess we can thank Ed Roth for that. The kit has an equally-collectible and equally-problematic partner in the Chevy Nomad, which offered a two-piece opening tailgate as well as doors and hood. My first version was the 'Skip's Fiesta Drive-In' release of 1988, and was molded in sparkly green (very pretty) with grey-tinted windows, which means the headlight lenses were tinted grey. I wish they'd re-release the Nomad, but it's got even more plastic than the coupe, and old Kar Kustomizers are dying off only so fast. What can you do?
