How to Build Guitar Cabinets pt.1

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Part 1 of a multi-part series featuring our DIY guitar speaker cabinet build. In this episode, we introduce the project and cover the concept, design and CAD modeling of a totally custom, 1 of a kind guitar stack.
This series will present the general steps in designing and scratch building a 2x12 open/closed back cabinet and a 2x12-1x15 cabinet - from concept, all the way to testing. 3D modeling, CNC cutting, woodworking, tolexing, detailing, wiring, testing and a final shoot-out with a pair of Marshall JCM800 Lead 1960 cabinets. It's all here, in one action-packed series with bite-sized episodes!
While we heavily feature the use of our Shapeoko XXL CNC machine in our build, it's not 100% necessary. All the parts in this build are very easy to fabricate by hand, by anyone with a moderate amount of woodworking skill.
Thanks to old friends Electric Magma for donating some of their tracks used throughout this series. You can find them on Spotify and grab swag and vinyl at www.electricmagma.com
Also, a shout out to NextGen guitars in Nepean Ontario who were our parts supplier for this project. They were super awesome and helped us a few times with some tricky details. They're a Canadian owned and operated small business and their prices and service are top notch!

Also, a shout out to Orange Amplifiers. They have an amazing video on their channel that skims over the basics of how their cabs are constructed. It was a valuable resource when researching how to put this stuff together.

Nice! Can't wait to see the next one! 5:19 - That's a great tip! I've had "18mm" BB-ply measure anything from 17.25mm up to 18.5mm, depending on the sheet. It always means minor adjustments are necessary on final assembly.

@@davedeguire Hopefully in Feb hahah. Rig's been done and in use for over a year! Just need to find a couple days between 'real' jobs to cut and post.... If you check our Ig account, there's a 1-minute reel of a 1x12 cab build - basically all the steps but smaller :)

Do you plan on releasing the 3D schematic or a 2D schematic of the final assembly? It would be dope to have a thorough reference to build from as a beginner.

We won't be releasing files but will go into A LOT of detail in the upcoming installment so there will be very little to interpret. Also, we can elaborate on anything that isn't clear through the comments or DMs :)

Coming really soon! Everything is actually done. We've been slammed with "real work" and have just been waiting for an opening to cut the next couple of episodes together.

Consider cutting your background music when it's time to talk - it's pretty distracting
