Welcome to Badpixel Inc.'s KZread Channel.
Badpixel inc is a video content shop based in Toronto Canada, established in 2013. Over the years, we've created tons of different types of content from live action to animation and CG for nearly 100 brands.
In our downtime, we love to throw ourselves into DIY projects. It's how we built our entire studio! Since being established, we've built everything from workstations and render farms, to arcade machines and PPE equipment. When we started out, our projects were purely utilitarian. We would build devices and equipment we needed to create whatever content we wanted to tackle. Documenting the process was never a priority until very recently. As we go, we'll be trying to post more and more of our maker adventures.
We hope you enjoy the channel enough to get involved by subscribing, sharing our content and joining the conversations by offering suggestions on how we can improve our designs and builds!

No part 3?
Great video 🤘🎸👍🏻 part 3?
Yay badpixel
What’s the thickness of the wood used for the bezels
All the stock is 3/4 13 ply baltic birch. The bezels are strips applied as shown in the illustration.
Is there a part 3 coming?
For the UV mapping issue another option can be RizomUV Real Space.
good info, but a bit outdated i guess, is there a link for an other video for ue 5.1 and solidworks 2022? thanks.
Can't wait for the next part! This 2x12 is exactly the build I'm hoping to make.
Would love at update on this topic! thanks
can i please get the stl
Waited for over a year and then missed the update 😂 now I can’t wait for the 3rd part. Will there be plans including dimensions and measurements? Keep up the great work. Cheers from Germany
This is very inspirational. I think I may have to order black t-track instead of the red I have already bought and shoot for a similar color scheme and ca inet shape. Still don’t know how to cut and route the cabinet parts though, with no workshop.
Would it be possible to do this without the CNC? I'm looking to build a cabinet and your videos were super helpful in learning, but I don't have access to the CNC machinery that would be needed to do something like this.
Hi there! Absolutely doable without a cnc. The profile is probably the most challenging part to cut. You could do this pretty easily with a jigsaw though. The key would be to cut one side panel, then use that as a guide for your opposite side panel. You'd want to make sure the 2 side panels are as close to identical as possible so the cabinet isn't wonky or out of alignment when you assemble. All the joints are simple box joints / motise/tenon which you could easily create with a small trim router a couple of good bits and a little jig. You'll need a trim router and a slot-cutting bit anyway to install the t-molding (pictured in the video). This design is a little more complicated than most because of the front plastic bezel but there are simpler designs (ie pacman/galaga style) that would be perfect for a first project. Also, size is totally up to you. Basically, if your electronics fit into the enclosure, you're good to go so if a heavier, larger cabinet is a bit too much at first, you could always scale down the design a little to make a smaller tabletop machine that would be much easier to cut and assemble.
Where Buy plans?
Consider cutting your background music when it's time to talk - it's pretty distracting
Extremely
great videos of a serious build - but - is is simply to much to listen to hardrock while trying to listen to the narrative at the same time, I have to quit
Lots of power tools, technology, measuring etc...why no swear words?
Bahaha... Most of the muted clips are 18+ with audio.
Interesting series, just not sure why it's taking so long to post updates when it's already done? There is not a lot of professionally built type amp cabs on KZread. I was looking to do something like this and just couldn't find anything no matter how I searched... so I just bought a Randall Lynchbox cab loaded with Celestion Lynchback speakers. I'd like to get the green Lynchbox can that came with the Super V speakers but that'd going to take some searching...
Thanks Jeff! Love Randall cabs. We actually took some inspiration from their 212/115 model (minus the ports). Content is slow coming because it's not our bread and butter. Unfortunately our following is so low that for now, these are just for fun. We make the episodes between client jobs and when we're a bit slow in the shop so we sneak in animation and editing whenever there's a bit of free time. Would love it if we could do this full-time but for now, we gotta do what we can to keep the lights on. The next one is in post now so the wait time won't be nearly as long :)
@@badpixelinc I see. I have been searching and searching for weeks about making cabs and nothing of yours showed up till this morning and it was just on my suggested to watch list. I didn't even search for it this time. I bought that Lynchbox cab last Saturday. It sound fantastic by the way too! I am kinda glad I was able to find and buy it as I'm sure building one would never have turned out as good as how this one sounds! I also got a 1x12 cab with a Super V speaker from him too and found out that Eminence will make these Super V speakers as a custom order just without the Super V logo's and such. If you have a chance to listen to those speakers, do so, them are amazing! Probably the best sounding cab I have ever heard! It is what Randall put stock in the green crocodile cab they sold some years ago! Why Eminence stopped making these speakers as a regular run is such a shame!
@@jeffallen3382 Nice. Unfortunately we're all at the mercy of the YT algorithm. I've heard some shootouts with the super V's. They seem pretty awesome. I know when we started this project supply for guitar speakers in general (like a lot of things) was super hit and miss. From what I heard, magnets were a huge issue for a while. That might have caused manufacturers to make adjustments to supply runs on certain speakers. Might do a little swap down the road. Was actually thinking about loading the 2x12 with different speakers (or replacing the crap g12s in my Marshall 800 cabs). The V30s are becoming the kleenex of 12" guitar speakers for heavier music. They're great but a little too "present" for my liking. Would like to try dropping in something a little less abrasive like a creamback at some point to see how it sounds mic'd loud.
@@badpixelinc that cab I got wasn't cheap and just the drive to 3 states away cost me $120 US on top of the cab costs a gut check with the way gas prices are. Luckily I was able to get it just before the prices really started climbing. What a crazy world this is becoming... Looking forward to the rest of this series and good talking to you abou this. Thanks.
@@badpixelinc You should try Eminence Legend GB128. Amazing speaker!
WOW, Good information, this can work with oculus quest 2?
Finally haha!!
I’m astonished that there are so few views and subs to this channel. I’ve been building my own custom, handmade guitar and bass speaker cabinets for a few years now, and there are a few good videos out there but this one is actually done at a high level with pro editing and detailing of the process. The part that blows me away the most is the cad preparation and CNC work, which seems like the most out-of-reach part for me because I just don’t have time to learn autocad with my current day job. I just build my cabs by hand with a rough outline sketch of my dimensions, and a few nice power tools. To date I’ve made a 2x12 Marshall-style cab with a v30/creamback H combo, a 1x12 openback fender-style cab, a 2x10 bass cab which I plan on re-doing, and my last was a mini 4x12 style 212 which is my best work to date. They keep getting better each time, which is promising. I lost my 1/2” roundover bit so I’ll have to find that next time I want to start a build. Anyway, you guys rule. Your channel is awesome and I’m sure you’ll have success with the quality of this content. I’ll check out your website today and see what’s up!
Thanks for the kind words Nick! Would love to see your work. Do you have an ig for your cabs?? The cad stuff is nice to have but totally not necessary to get these done. Like you said, You could totally cover the CNC bits with some decent power tools a little experience and a steady hand. For me, the detail work (coming in the next one) was by far the funnest part of the whole build. No computer trickery there. Just by-hand work. Cheers!
I think it has to do with how active the KZreadr is. Although he has very high quality videos the quantity and activity of the channel is very low. That's not going to garner very many subscribers. Getting to the top of the heap in YT is both quantity and quality.
Bro l just saw your work and it’s very good 👌👌
Been waiting forever for this video!
Hi folks, Pt ii just went up this week. Be sure to check it if you haven't already! Have a great day!
What happened to part2
In production
I was thrown back when you said Niagara, I’m a local too. Video is great dude!
Right on! Thanks man.
@@badpixelinc when’s part 2 coming lol
@@davedeguire Hopefully in Feb hahah. Rig's been done and in use for over a year! Just need to find a couple days between 'real' jobs to cut and post.... If you check our Ig account, there's a 1-minute reel of a 1x12 cab build - basically all the steps but smaller :)
Yes, thank you for the great Video. All relevant information in a shirt time. Thanks for the effort.
¿Se puede hacer esto en verciones actualizadas?
Look forward to seeing future episodes! Looms awesome!
what designing software did you use?
solidworks for the designs. Then popped out 2.5D cut files to Carbide Create and cut on a Shapeoko XXL. All the details are coming in the next installment!
Well we are waiting ;-)
Do you plan on releasing the 3D schematic or a 2D schematic of the final assembly? It would be dope to have a thorough reference to build from as a beginner.
We won't be releasing files but will go into A LOT of detail in the upcoming installment so there will be very little to interpret. Also, we can elaborate on anything that isn't clear through the comments or DMs :)
Hi! can I also have a copy of the stl file you've remixed with 2 filter? thanks, i"ve sent an email
What is the program for that presentation? Looks amazing Ah ok, SW :D I was working in this for few years.
Modeled in SW, Animated in C4D, rendered with RedShift, composited in Ae.
muito loko !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Are there release dates for future videos?
Coming really soon! Everything is actually done. We've been slammed with "real work" and have just been waiting for an opening to cut the next couple of episodes together.
Looking forward to part 2! That 2x12/1x18 looks like EXACTLY what I need for some Doom metal!
Thanks!!
What soundtrack is this ?
I‘ve seen lots of Arcade builds on KZread but this one is just extremely well made. Great work!
Thanks!!
wtf this is one of the best arcade builds ive seen yet, why is there so little views?
Thanks!!
Nice! Can't wait to see the next one! 5:19 - That's a great tip! I've had "18mm" BB-ply measure anything from 17.25mm up to 18.5mm, depending on the sheet. It always means minor adjustments are necessary on final assembly.
Wicked!
Datasmith is now inbuilt for the unreal engine (AEC and Product design templates)
This rundown was made over 2 years ago and addresses a pipeline issue that was not yet integrated.
I wish you showed more gameplay
This IS EPIC! One of the best bartop cabinet builds I've seen! Love the plexiglass! You have inspired me to shoot higher for my build!
Loved the music.
Great video! Thank you for your time and effort. Keep up the good work!
nope, i never worry about that kinda stuff. but sounds like a great tool for the sheeple
For strength, try increasing wall thickness instead of using infill.
Good point - increased from 2 shells to 4 on final but forgot to mention. The weak point was mostly a result of a little jog in the profile which we straightened out in on the final model. It looked cool and was good for some handles but was way stronger without it.
Would love to get the STL files!
Hey there! Thanks for the comment! Please send us an email at [email protected] and we'll fire over the STL files!
Very useful, I have set up my own Engineering consultancy and use SW, have used UNITY3D before, but files needed to be imported into blender first which was too much work & time. Also VR is something I need to get unto speed with.
