5mm Robline Dinghy control line has only 4mm dyneema core. If you don't need the cover, 4mm dyneema will be good enough!

That would definitely make it even more compact! I do like the cover on the dyneema though, just to avoid the dyneema strands picking.

Would you suggest a website that can buy all the items need for building the knee ascender kit?

That’s tricky. The ascender would come from an Arb, rope access or Rock climbing shop as well as the DMM xsre carabiners. The elastic shock cord from a hardware store. And the dyneema cord from a sailing shop.

Won't the cord come up a little short since you didn't do the Croll marking while it was girth hitched?

True. Probably lost about 5-10mm from the spliced large eye to girth hitching it. Good pickup 👏🤙

It’s the Robline Dyneema Dinghy Control Line. The 5mm has a 12kN rating

Can I ask you an important question? Is the TasLove 3 a safe device? Thank you for explaining how to make this knee ascender

I do like the Tas Lov3. But only for very specific uses IMHO. I don’t think it’s a good device for moving around the canopy of a tree (it doesn’t have the fine adjustment of a hitch, zigzag, rope runner etc) it is great for ascent though and I do think it is a safe device when used correctly in the correct application. I’d compare it more to a Petzl ID and Rig, ISC D4 and other rope access descenders but with the benefit of being able to ascend a straight rope. It doesn’t have an anti-panic function though, so that’s something to bear in mind.
