How to Build an Impressive Dock with ANY Material | Valheim

Ойындар

In this video, I show you how to build an impressive dock with every material in Valheim. I cover building over water with wood, stone, black marble, and grausten components, and give you tips that I have learned over my hundreds of hours building.

    fun fact, spiked walls don't degrade in water, and enemies don't deliberately attack them since they're a defensive building piece so you can use them underwater to make a super sturdy water proof support early on in the game

    I've done this technique straight up at Meadows level and it can work great! Good tip!!! You can snap other build pieces to the top of the wooden spikes as well, so all your crafting needs are there.

    Oh shit… out of all the time I’ve been playing, I really never knew this detail. Thank you! I too would like to share a tip. *Roads* If you build roads, your wheelbarrow will take less damage from terrain. They also give the world a sense of direction. The mistlands allows players to make underground tunnel systems in the rocks if one decided to build a road through it. Be sure to decorate your roads every now and then to give yourself more things to look At whilst traversing them. Don’t worry about clearing the road, do that later. Just make the path and when you go down it later, do the clearing and use those resources for building/etc.

    That technique with using the cart to reach snap points down low is a gem. I'd read a few posts hinting at this ability, but hadn't seen it actually work until now. Thanks! I hope beginners aren't put off at the start with how you started with a stone base. I just use the hoe to do a squared off section of raised earth into the water to get started. Easy to do and doesn't require swamp level abilities. Great survey of tips and tricks! Building in water is much more difficult in Valheim sadly, but I do love the game overall. :) Also love the grausten dock and how you did the end shelter with iron pit. I've been using bonfires (can see a long distance), but the design you've got is elegant.

    i hope after deep north they add more to the oceans and allow us to dive under water and use our tools down there. that would make building in the water SO MUCH easier. at least on pc you can get the mod that lets you make the boots of sinking but on console or vanilla youre SOL.

    one of the needs for a dock is figuring out some way to get all that ore out of it. I make the dock low enough to the water that I can stand on the dock and access the storage, take all the ore out and have enough stamina food to walk overburdened to my ore room

  • @phinqs

    @phinqs

    24 күн бұрын

    I do not use mods. However, you can use the in-game console commands to override the building requirements. The console commands are: "devcommands", "debugmode", and then "B" to active "no build cost". You can also use the "Hammer mode" difficulty setting to remove the requirement for materials, but you will still need to place the appropriate workstations this way.

    @@phinqs Oh, I didn't know that was a thing. Stupid question here, but what is the step-by-step process from the beginning that I need to take in order to override the building requirements? It's amusing watching youtube valheim builders and their use of building shortcuts/features. Some never use anything but "auto," and fewer still never use Shift+MMB to quick select whatever building piece your cursor is over.

    The ability to cycle through the snapping points has been a lifesaver. However, it has not always been a feature so older videos will all look like "auto" only! I must admit though, I don't really use Shift+MMB but I should probably try and get used to it!
