A very nice video thanks again and your right about practice. Just got my first Metal detector minelabs 440 and used It on my dads front yard picked up every thing he used back In his day when he was around. Nails, sprinkler heads, some coins, wire, metal posts below the dirt line...After six hours practicing It was coming together still have a ways, still getting used to the sounds. When I'm not sure I use the cross hairs to pin point that's a nice feature. The Garrett pro pointer Is amazing for saving time I can't imagine not having one. I put some coins In the ground to practice with It really helps. Im going to clean It up more to many targets then Im going to let my daughter try to find them............

Big Dog I have the 440 . They came out with a update for all three detectors the 540 got some thing the 440 should have gotten. I thought It was cheap not to give the 440 the same added sound changes as the 540. I don't know where you sit In regards to this. The 440 has everything It needs to have It also, I hope that Minelabs will maybe fix this here soon because I spent the money to support -them- and should be getting the update like the 550.

Yeah, I guess they feel they need to have a reason for people to upgrade. Don’t know. It would be easy for them to do what you are suggesting I think. 🤷‍♂️ Cheers.

Sometimes the target disappears after you have dug the hole, as a result of the Big Steel Shovel that you left next to the hole, when you swept the coil over it a second time. The Shovel will mask that little Silver Target. The other thing I have noticed is that when I am digging in trashy areas a nail or piece of iron will be in the same hole. The iron, aluminum our trash object is now masking the good target always sweep your hole a second or third time. Each time remove any metal and sweep again. As an example, If I get a signal on my Equinox between 25-30 and My pin-pointer finds a Nail. A don’t bother getting up off the ground, I just Dig and pinpoint again until I find it.... Happy Hunting.

All true. Also, sometimes if its a small target like your namesake, it can move on edge and become hard for the detector to see. Thanks for the comment. Cheers.

Good Halo effect links, thanks, Question, I found a ihp and a few wheatys in an area with thick leave cover after it rained, went back a couple days later, thought if I racked the very thick cover of leaves it may help, found only a few nails, could I have disturbed the Halo by racking?

No I don’t think moving the leaves on the surface would do that. But maybe when you dug those original targets? Cheers.

@@BigDogChannel was asking because this is the 2nd time I've done this on my property in productive areas, it was almost like majic, the good signals we're gone and I'm not talking about a small area, will try again after the next hard rain
