I am beyond happy today. Been working so hard on my property the past few years and its finally coming together. Even my own home made compost is doing incredible results I can't believe it. You have been a huge inspiration and still are, you and especially Tuck.

That’s awesome. It definitly takes a couple years to really start seeing results. And it just keeps getting better as you keep adding to it. It’s lime creating your own eco system. Making compost is one of the best things too for the soil! Good luck!
My husband did exactly this over our 16' x 48' berry patch to put up bird netting. It's 5 years old now and still working perfectly. 💚💚💚
James you are one stunning human being. I cannot believe the quality of your workmanship and the produce that you produce and your videos are just as impeccable!!! Bravo!
This is my 4th garden season using 6 of these beds in my back yard. Due to your dual layer hoop house system I’m able to extend my growing season by 2-3 months. The past 3 years my harvests have been amazing. Thanks for teaching us how to build these beds and hoophouses brother!
Wow, great job. This is fantastic! 👍👊

Hello, James and Tuck Thanks for a good useful video. The raised bed veggies look really nice. You should be proud that you are able to share your experiences and knowledge. 💚💚 🥕 Go Tuck! 🥕 💙💙
Thank you so much James for this priceless video! Every step is so clearly explained. I have stopped growing cabbages and cauliflower because every year they’re eaten up by cabbage flies and worms or rabbits and deer. This has given me inspiration and will get these erected asap. It will also prolong my growing season which is simply awesome! I’m saving this to make my husband watch and erect one or 2 for my raised beds. Superb video thank you ❤🙏👩🌾
I have zero experience building anything. This video gave me hope that I can actually do it! Thanks ❤
Hey James you inspired me to start growing stuff this year for the first time I’ve started growing quite a few things like rasberries blueberries tomatoes lettuce peppers zucchini and a lot more so thanks 🙏
❤ for Tuck & James!
Love love love this. I’m going to have my husband do this . Thank you ❤Tuck

I remember your original raised bed cover builds! Love it so much! Glad you're doing it again! Love the clear inclusion of the math! I remember you made at least one for the Birdies raised beds. I'd love to know how that one is working out! Would you do anything different with the back support structure if you make another one? Thank you!

Thanks! I had a number of people ask how I build them, so I figured I would do an updated version and go into detail about the multifunctional use. I still use the steel raised bed one, but can't think of anything particular I would change, I am happy that I didn't damage the bed when making it, and it still serves its purpose so I don't think I would change much to be honest. Good question though Kele!

@@jamesprigioni When I watched you building the ones from 3 yrs ago, I was transfixed! And then you made it so that there was a second plastic cover for winter use! OMG I wanted to shout for joy. I've recommended that video to friends and acquaintances so many times that I lost track! "Multifunctional" is exactly the word! I was thinking, "hey, I could put row cover and insect netting on that", and then you did! It might seem odd to some folks how darn impressed and happy I am for this bed, and this update video, but it's one of the most helpful and clever things I've ever seen! I hope a lot of others are expressing their gratitude, especially now that insect pressure is increasing so much due to warm winters. Saving whole beds of food is no joke! Thank you James!!!!! And of course 💖🤗 Tuck!

@@kele1264 I completely agree. My veg beds are so large that putting a plastic cover over the frame will actually transform it into a mini greenhouse! Real joy and excitement indeed thinking about all those extra food I can harvest in cold weather.

@@53peace It's ingenious. I think James should patent it and find a manufacturer. I'm sure there's a market for it! Best of luck to you, I'm sure you'll work wonders with your beds!

I didn't see the gnome after watching the video twice, but I saw Tuck digging a hol,e which I missed the first time. I have a garden dog too, he is loving the peas right now. Thank you, so much for showing the cover design! I only have hand tools and this looks so easy!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Lots of hearts for Tuck ! I have a Yorkie , her name is Gracie & she loves being outside with me in the gardens .
I have been searching and searching for something simple and easy to put over my raised garden beds and I am beyond excited that I found your video.
I saw the garden gnome at 10:56 on the end of the garden bed. Love the hinged hoop tutorial. Excellent teaching as always!

Hi James. I built 2 of these Hoophouses with opening lids 3 years ago, and followed your instructions exactly. I can't thank you enough ! They are still working and opening & closing perfect. The only change I made was that I used split pin hinges so I put hinges at the front as well as the rear. So when I want to get at my tomatoes at the rear of the Hoophouses, I connect the hinges at the front, remove the pins from the rear hinges and the lid can open at the rear. Thanks again, keep up the great work!

Thank you for this great tutorial! I have been looking for a way to shade my garden in the heat of summer. This would be a prefect solution! Plus I think it tidied up the look of the entire garden as well.
Thanks so much for answering the question for us James. I was wondering how you did it and now I know. You made it look easy. We have cinder block raised bed but we'll just tweak it to get it done. Blessings on your garden. Appreciate you. 😊

Another amazing video, love watching and learning from you and tuck, currently working on getting my own food forest started!!
Tuck digging the hole made me laugh❤❤❤❤. Also saw the Gnome at 10:54. Watch the video twice to make notes on the raised bed cover. I will go back and watch again how you built it for the metal bed. That is how I will have to make one. Thanks again for showing us step by step on this very useful solution.
Awesome video on using PVC piping for building garden box frames! My Son-in-law works in irrigation 😉👍!
Good garden ideas & instructional video!
Thanks for this step by step video. Very helpful. We have frost, bugs, birds, and disease where I live so a cover like this is so helpful. Can’t wait to make one! It’ll be so much easier to get inside and check on the plants with the hinge system.
Love this! I can’t grow through the winter (zone 4B with 5-8 feet of snow typical), but it’s great for starting and summer protection! I’m definitely going to do this for my raised beds! Thank you James!
thank you for your knowledge! I just started my garden in april and its been alot of fun and the food tastes SO MUCH BETTER than store bought
I always enjoy your videos. Give Tuck a scratch behind the ear for me. Your garden is beautiful.🙏🕊️🌻🌹☕❤️
Thank you, this is so good! Great information and love the step by step.
Awesome tips as per. Thank You James
As a pro carpenter i would suggest thru bolting the caps to the 2x4 ahead of time. Thats alot of stress in soft wood that will only become softer thru the seasons
God bless you dear! You are a blessing to others!
I'm so 😊 glad I've watched this video. I'm inspired by you, and will use this method to protect my plants in my garden beds during our hot summers. It's winter here in Australia and it's freezing cold... but thank you for your fabulous video.
Wow James! Way to go! I'm going to try doing this! Oh, Hearts to Tucks, ❤! Thanks again James and God Bless!
I don’t need row covers, but this gave me inspiration to make a 2 level PVC grid (flat) for ground cherry support - something they can grow up through and have support. Thank you!
Awesome video, seems totally achievable and super functional! One little note: You ended up multiplying it correctly but when you calculate the length of PVC you need for each hoop you would be using the equation for the circumference of a circle C=2*pi*r and dividing that by 2 for your half circle. You did the math this way but put the equation for the area of a circle (A=pi*r^2).
James, an excellent video on how you cover your raised beds. I've just started gardening since retiring and find this such a relaxing hobby. Thanks for sharing your video.
Tuck is digging an underground entrance so he can get to his carrots even with the cover in place! 🤣 Another great video - thank you! ❤❤❤❤ for Tuck, and for you. 😊

You’re absolutely right, he outsmarted me again. That’s why he is the boss 🤦♂️
Would it be possible to also make an additional use for it as a watering system by drilling small holes in long straight pieces? This would be helpful in the really hot season if you gave it a hose hookup on an end. Love watching your channel.

Awesome video! I just lost my young seedlings to groundhogs or squirrels, or something. I live in New Jersey as well and I'm encouraged now that I can grow throughout the entire year! Thank you!!
Thanks for doing such a great explainer video. Definitely going to make one of these 👍🏻
I love love love when you do this. Such useful info. Thanks so much. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤stay cool tuck!
SUPER! 👍👍👍 I may need to add poultry wire cover to discourage furry critters here...deer too. 1&5/8" screws into cut ends of 2x4s seems might loosen over time to me...I'll likely use long deck screws for better hold.
I did this and the bugs have almost been non existent in the bed. Definitely worth
we need a list on what to plant in a rasied bed cover
AMEN on the insect netting! I use it on everything and then remove it from the crops that need polinated. I have been known to wait on the zucchini and hand polinate for a while and since using the netting I have had ZERO squash bugs...so far. I use rebar in the corners and sides pushed into the dirt and put the pvc pipe over them. It works great, but you do have more work to get into the box that way. I also use the full length of pipe to accomodate my taller plants. Thanks for this video. I'm goin to try making mine to open like your's.
Thank you so much for sharing your ideas
Thank you for this!!!
Thank you!!!! I was just yesterday wondering how to make a cover for my beds to keep the cat and the birds out 😁 You are awesome!!!!!

Awesome video, James. Thank you for sharing. 😀🌱
Love your work. I see our friend 🧙 at 0:05 sitting on the garden bed edge. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Very nice my brother you help me out a lot. Keep growing always look at you.
Thanks for the great video. We made our first cover today, turned out great! A little more money than I would have liked but I'm sure it will help. We live in Mississippi, there are so many pests they eat everything so this will help a lot. We also plan on using it with plastic in the winter, we don't have too many cold nights. We actually made a bad version of this last winter and got a pretty good yield. The summer was so hot here we didn't have a good crop, going to move the garden where there is a little more shade.
Looking to build this before winter hits for one of our new raised beds! Great video! Just getting started on our KZread channel and hope to be as smooth at it eventually! 😁
Thanks mate.
