How To Build A Mitre Saw Bench | Makita LS1219L

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

How I built my mitre saw bench / station for my new Makita LS1219L 12" mitre saw.
Here I show the process I used to build my mitre saw station. This was needed to create a more permanent solution within my work space.
The mitre saw station replaces my old set up where I used a Dewalt DWS780 mitre saw mounted on a Dewalt mitre saw stand. This set up was just taking up too much room in my small work space, so a better solution was required.
I purchased a new Makita LS1219L Mitre saw to be used in conjunction with the Festool CTL MIDI extractor and these work well together. I now have a permanent mitre saw station which will make my life a lot easier and also create more space within my workshop.
Mitre station dimensions -
2 x rectangular modules - 1200mm L x 770mm W x 950mm H
Middle section for saw to sit on - 1030mm L x 770mm W
Overall length - 3430mm

Ohhh, I love the way you angled those screws into the frame. Nice job. thanks for the video...I just bought a Makita 8inch mitre compound saw...I'm under 5 feet short...and it still seems a monster. I need a bench for it now,and probably a small platform to raise me up a bit. The first job will be a bench like this, then a small platdform, then a chicken tractor, then a Tiki Hut... hence looking at videos. Very simple and practical. Thanks again.

Simple build Barry. Looks good. Inspired me to build my own as it looks easy 😬 Hope the Makita meets your expectations. Seems the Dewalt saw is a hard act to follow!

Go for it Neil, super easy to build and so convenient to have. The Dewalt is a great saw (one of my favourite tools) but just too big to put on a mitre station. I am still getting to grips with the Makita - it is strange as so used to the Dewalt. Thanks for the comment Neil - much appreciated mate 👍😀

Nice job mate, also nice to hear a Scottish accent for a change! I have the same thing in mind to build but I was thinking of going for Bosch glide 12". At this level they are all top notch saws. I have a cheaper erbauer mitre saw and for £240 it has massive cut capacity but suffers the same drawback as your dewalt in that it's ginormous and space is limited. I'm from Kilmarnock btw, I am a joiner and have a youtube channel, jusgeritdone. I only have 4 vids at the moment but have decided to start getting a bit more serious so working on a new video just now. I built my shop last year and currently working to finish indide. Anyway, I have subscribed to your channel and enjoyed watching this build. It would also be interesting to hear how you get on with the new makita chop saw.

Hi there mate, good to hear from you and thanks for the sub. I have not used the Bosch saw but it looks to be a great saw. I have only been using the Makita for a few weeks but really have to say that it is head and shoulders above the Dewalt. Such a great saw to use. The only thing I don't like about it is the laser cut line, it is awful when compared to the excellent Dewalt shadow line. I think Makita are coming out with a shadow line for this model, so if they do, then this would make all the difference. I will take a look at your channel now and wish you all the best with it. KZread is good fun but it is very time consuming if concentrating on it...............hence why my channel is a bit lacking at the moment, it is really difficult getting time to upload content but hope to get more out soon ! Cheers - Barry

Hi Barry, looks good. Could you tell me how far from the wall does the module you built stick out? I'm looking to purchase the Makita saw for the same reason as you have. Just wondering what the footprint is. Cheers Dan

Hi Dan, I made my module 760mm from the wall to the front. I made it this wide for my own purposes but you could get away with about 600mm if space is an issue. Both of the modules I made are 1200mm x 760mm but you can obviously make them any size you want to suit your individual needs. I hope this helps ? Cheers 👍
