How To Build A Fold Down Wall Desk | DIY Murphy Desk
Ойын-сауық
Today I'm showing you how I built my own version of a DIY folding wall desk (or, Murphy desk)! While it functions as a desk with storage when folded down, it looks like an art piece when folded up and stored away! This is a great option for homes that are in need of creative desks and space saving work-from-home areas.
Even better, I was able to build this desk in just a few short days with the help of Walmart and their DIY & Done section of their website! This is a great beginner build and was so much to make!
This project is sponsored by Walmart.

Very impressive work. Gives me tons of ideas not just for a workspace, but for use in my kitchen and closet.
Love this desk, especially because it is beautiful when closed! Thanks for sharing.
Even better than i could ever imagine. Great idea!!
Nice space saver, especially if you don't need it open all the time. Love the art work on the lid! Super cool.
Love the way this murphy desk turned out!! I definitely see one of these in my future!! Great build Sam!!
I love this! I had been looking for a small desk and this is wayyyy better.

Wow. That's super neat and beautiful.
Great idea! Very efficient use of space. I’ll borrow the design in a cubby under the stairs for a little one. Cork on the face for a pin board. When staining wood, sanding to 220 is a personal choice. Planer waves are a pet peeve and stain highlights them.
Nice job. I used a old dresser drawer for the box and I put a few pieces of panel wood glued together for the face/ desk top.
That looks amazing! Great job, especially love the art work look!

Beautiful and simple build!! And functional! Nice only thing I would add is a hole through the bottom for a power strip (charging devices) but other then that beautiful. Just love the color and wood design on the front panel! You could even do like messages or wording on some of the paint . But sweet build! Thanks for sharing

Love your work. Your work are very neat and professional.👌🏼👍🏼
This is BRILLIANT! I love this! I built a little desk for my needs when I started working from home 2.5 years ago due to Covid. 2.5 years later, still working from home. I need more room in our extra bedroom/office, so thought I'd buy a murphy desk, then I saw how expensive they are! Found this awesome video and gave me a few ideas on how I can transform my already built desk in to a murphy desk by disassembling it and adding a few extras. Thank you!
Thanks for this video! I have limited space so I was looking on what to do bc I wanted a desk in my room. So instead of making a full murphy desk, I'm planning on just adding the desk part to my bookshelf I have in here!
Great job on your build. Thank you for this video. You've helped solve an issue for a small space I am working with. 😀
OMIGOD! How innovative. I would like very much to try this

i was thinking of making something like this as a portable workspace to make small items, paint objects, do origami and quilling etc... then i found this video, ty for the tutorial
Nice I love this. I'm actually moving in a little over a month into an apartment that's a little smaller but very open and I'm thinking of doing this to save space and not have a big desk against the wall.

I was just now investigating flap stays for a project just like this. What do you know, not only has some clever person already designed what I was sketching but they've also made a video of it. Now I can demonstrate to the miss what I had in mind for a convenient little spot for her crafty hobbies.
Thanks this is awesome and you're too good at your work

Loved it!
beautiful work, thank you for sharing, when installing a gas strut it needs to be attached with the cylinder the highest point not the shaft. This is because the Gas Strut cylinder houses a small amount of oil in charge of keeping the seal lubricated and oiling the shaft as it passes through the seal.
@MindBodyMuse

I’m not sure if it was just the angle of the camera, but the table seemed to hang down past the 90 degree point… I wonder if moving the gas struts out a bit further on the table would have helped to correct this?
Really an awesome work
Awesome! Merry Christmas 🙏

Great build! Picked up the plans for this today to build with my daughter. The desktop is going to be black melamine that I'll be carving the underside on the CNC instead of painting. The design is probably going to be BTS related because it's for a 13 year old girl lol. It's ok though, I'm glad that I get to share woodworking with her.
