I think it would be cool to find a torch lighter that looks like a c96 and then modify that. Then you get a blast from it and it's also a working usable tool too.

I mean, German engineering is legendary the world over, plenty to be proud of. From firearms to knives to watches to main battle tanks, they know how to build things that last and look good doing it!

@@milkapeismilky5464 Yes, it is legendary, but sadly most of it has something to do with weapons. I mean it is quite fascinating, but sadly the most things people know about Germany is: WW1 WW2 Weapons Lederhosen And an accent wich I only ever hear from actors, but have never heard once from a german speaking Englisch.

@@jackwriter1908I am sorry you feel that way, I know there are a lot of ignorant people in the world. I do NOT think of Germany only as a war machine. My grandfather spent six years of his life, 1939-45, fighting the Axis powers in WW2. He then returned to Scotland. He almost never spoke of fighting. He did speak of the people that he met, the man that he fought with and the man he fought against. I don't think he hated the German people at all. He hated the Nazi party, but not the German people. Every country on Earth has periods in history that they are not proud of. The evil Nazis are only a tiny part of the Germanic people's incredible history. The tribes of Germania fought bravely against the invading Romans for centuries. The German states stood firm against Napoleon's tyranny and were instrumental in his final defeat. After Munich, the GSG9 became one of the world's very best anti-terrorist forces. Bundeswehr troops have been fighting terrorist insurgent forces in Afghanistan since early 2002. I know Germany has a complicated history and it must be difficult for you to deal with sometimes. I did not grow up in Germany so I don't know what it feels like. I absolutely respect German culture and I meant many people from Germany that I liked very much. My sisters both speak fluent German and lived in Austria for a time. Your country is very beautiful, with a wonderful and rich culture.

@@jackwriter1908 ha! Yes, German accents in films are terrible! My German is poor. My sisters are fluent and love to make fun of my accent! I know my accent has been influenced by bad American and English films, were the actors use a terrible fake German accent.

Beautiful sculpting work! Thank you for NOT mutilating an actual c96. These beautiful pistols are getting scarce. I have seen some dl-44s made from de-milled/deactivated c-96s, which were quite common in the UK up to the mid 80's.

When I was little I thought Han had one DL-44 that he carried all the time and just changed the scopes. As I got older I realized he had a small arsenal of different DL-44s, which made more sense, than just having one blaster.

Holy crap! I remember thinking the same thing! I've been a firearms enthusiast since a young age and always took note of small gun details in films. I drive my friends crazy when we watch films together. I am lucky enough to own a well worn 1930 Mauser c96 in .30 Mauser. Obi Wan was half correct, it is a clumsy bit of kit, altho not random. .30 Mauser is extremely pleasant to shoot and actually available just like the ammunition shortage in the USA.

More than once, when someone has seen a static prop I've made, custom Electrobinoculars for instance, they ask, in a disappointed tone, "Don't these work?" I tell them no, that it's a static prop, that it's not meant to work as seen on screen. I think a lot of people who aren't geeks about film production in general don't realize that the screen used electrobinoculars didn't really work either, that the image seen through the lense was a "special effect".

Hi DADcrunch, we will have resin casts on our website starting next month. Our cast is an improved version of the unit I used in these videos. July 6th will be the release date. If you go to our website and sign up you will be on our list to send out a notification when they are ready. www.thesmugglersroom.com Outside of that there are a large variety of sellers on Etsy that I have seen. They sell items from 3D printed version to Resin. I read reviews from each seller to determine which are best to go with.
