How To Brew Beavertown Neck Oil Using The Malt Miller All-grain Kit (review)

How To Make Beavertown Neck Oil - The Malt Miller All Grain Kit Review
Time for another grain to glass all grain home brew kit review. This one is a clone of the mighty Beavertown Neck Oil Session Pale Ale. A fantastic beer that Mark really likes. As is often the case, the homebrew version is better.
The only thing I did differently to the recipe kit is I added ALDC rather than doing a standard diacetyl rest. It always works better for me, but each to their own!

This one is a recipe kit from The Malt Miller
Here's what they had to say about it
Inspired by a clone of the classic session IPA from Beavertown Brewery, Neck Oil. This easy-drinking hop-forward pale ale will be sure to hit the spot. An all-grain kit featuring a classic selection of hops from the USA including Simcoe, Centennial, Amarillo, Mosaic & Columbus. You can expect a beer full of citrusy, hoppy, slightly piney character that’s easy to drink and will hit the spot all day long!

Fermentation temperature/steps: 19c - 7-10 days
Comments:
Allow for a diac rest at the end of fermentation for 2-3 days, taste test during this time to be sure none is left before packaging your beer.
Due to this beer using a reasonable size dry hop, it will be useful to cold crash after fermentation and your diacetyl rest has been completed.
We would also recommend you package using a method which will avoid oxygen pick up such as into a keg.

Looks incredible. Interestingly I’ve seen a lot of beaver town in pubs in my little rural village in Lincolnshire which I was surprised to see, but now it makes sense. I like it and yours looks incredible. Your videos are making me think do I carry on buying 25 kg bags of base malt and carry stocks of speciality malts ,hops and yeast or buy all grain kits ready to go. I do love just making up a recipe. Interesting as always cheers guys 👍🍻

Hey Rick, Penny here. Good point, we love making up recipes as that’s what we enter into comps and bring down to the local Homebrew club. However it’s good trying styles you have never done before via a pre-made recipe kit so it gives you a solid foundation. That’s our thoughts anyway. Loves your 3 beers you sent us, we filmed a short vid on them last week!

I’m a fan of Verdant beers, and I’ve got Even Sharks already here to make. The problem is I’ve also got loads of other things to make 😂

How much ALDC did you put into the brew and at what stage did you add it?

More commentary on what you are adding, how much water, when you add things and how you add them etc and then it would match the description of your video. Didn’t live up the “how to brew” title. Less interested in the tasting to be honest, I would prefer less of that and more instruction.
