I've been playing now for over a little 3 years mainly only on the weekends. So far, the best I have shot is 3 over par. You're one of the first KZreadrs I started watching for tips and I have come a long way because of your expertise, thank you MR Short game!

Damn bro I just started 8 months ago and my long term goal is to shoot par. I have a bunch of other goals which some have been accomplished already. My first round was 120. About 30 rounds later I’m averaging 93 with a PB of 88 which happened 2 weeks ago. I want to shoot 79 before the end of August which will be my first year of playing golf. This is definitely the hardest game I’ve played and I won championships in basketball, baseball, and football. Golf is harder then all of them hands down

Practice your short game from 75 yards and in.... every time you are at the range, just practice until you are consistent in those small wedge shorts, and golf become so much easier, short game is key to low rounds, its that simple. Do not spend hours with driver, use them on short game area.....we always come up short or next to green, with sharp wedge play you have your par..... when pactice short game, remember use the bounce on the wedge for consistent shorts.....that is why the bounce is there :)

i really believed in that when i started last year. my short game became dialed in. I would get a lot of up and downs. But it didnt really matter when my wedge onto the green was for 5 and my putt for 6 or 7. Getting off the tee isnt just something that happens. I used to slice and miss all my tee shots and id consistently lose balls. I hate when people say that. You gotta be able to at least get off the tee to use your short game. my normal hole: Driver/wood/long iron: far right, topped, or OB. Hitting a tough second shot for 3. Now my approach shot with a wedge for 4. up and down for 6 OR 7. Thats not what I would call "good golf"

@@jaywood9415 What I see is most of the time is more poor shots from mid to high handicappers from the driver than I do the short game. Mind you the short game is not great and most don't know how to hit out of traps. I think if most golfers can get the tee ball in play and out of trouble you have the best chance of avoiding a high number on that hole.

@@jaywood9415 if you really wanna break 90 or 100 consistently if youre shooting 6 and 7 on holes check out Golf Sidekick channel. It worked for me. I can golf in the 90s consistently with clubs that hit no longer than my 6 iron or 170 yards, and youve gotta know the shot shape. If your swing is a mess, forget about scoring, GET LESSONS and practice the shots that can get you to about 170 and shorter, consistently. If you do the math to break 90 if you take a par 72 and add +18 thats 90, so take every hole and add +1 stroke. Par 5 becomes 6, 4 becomes 5, 3 becomes 4. Then focus on getting the ball on the green in regulation with the new par, and its not a rush to the green, take the 4 strokes on a par 6 to get it to the green taking smart, conservative shots. Say your par 5 (now 6 because you added 1 stroke) is 450 yards, tee off with 6i to 170, another approach from the fairway that goes 170, then youve got 110 yards into the green, 3rd shot is pitching wedge onto the green, then youre allowed to 3 putt it for your new par, and if you "birdie" with the new par by 2 putting you're likely to break 90 if you do that for every hole. Its NOT about getting 250 yards off the tee, its about taking conservative controllable shots that stay in the fairway. Put the big clubs away until youve got super solid shots even at 150 yards, this method works. Lets use a par 3 as an example. You've added a stroke (which is purely to help you train your mindset on club selection) so its a par 4. Lets say youve got a green that has a ton of hazards around it, water, sand etc, and lets say its 180 yards to the pin from the box. You've only got a clean shot thats 170 yards and nothing longer, but your shot dispersion with the 170 is a little erratic. If you think of it as a par 4, you might wanna club down to your 150 yard club which you shoot dead straight every time, get it in the fairway to get a 30 yard shot onto the green, then 2 putt for your new par. Now lets say you try to hero the shot onto the green at 180 but your shot sucks, you either duff it, hook it into the woods, or land in a trap or water and have to take a drop, your mental game is impacted, youre pissed, then you fight to get it onto the green both mentally or with tough shots, and you might end up hitting a 4 anyway or something worse, all because you tried that 180 yard shot that you cant consistently hit.

I’ve been working for about 8 months on improving my swing and have tried several programs to improve my swing. Flipping is at the root of my problems. This video is 100% spot on. I’ve started flushing shots by doing the motorcycle move at the top of the backswing and the Pete Cowan move on the downswing. That is- rotating the trail wrist down while keeping the elbow tucked in to compress the ball. There is no better feeling than hitting a flush shot that flies further and straighter! Thank you Mr Shortgame!!!

Today I feel like my game had a massive improvement as I've recently just gained the confidence to follow through more aggressively on my shots by activating my front leg way more. As soon as I started doing this i noticed I was having cleaner strikes and longer distances. Sometimes I feel that as a woman with a smaller frame I'm not hitting as long as my playing partners but since I've started swinging better I'm keeping up with them and sometimes out driving.

Please get into ball compression, or maybe tell me what episode you covered hitting ball first and leaving a beautiful divot. My biggest problem right now is hitting ball before dirt. I just started playing in October 2023 and I’m hooked. I dabbled in the 90’s and created some bad habits. I’m 62 and shooting under 100 the last 5 rounds. Had knee replacement in December and was shooting 120’s before surgery. My goal is to break 90 by October. I love your teaching and know that ball compression is key….

Curious your thoughts on the approach I’ve taken. In my setup, I create some of this flexion like you mention in this video, it helps me tons! It keeps my hands ahead of the club head pre swing and gets that feel in my head and helps me keep that feel throughout the whole swing and eliminate the funky stuff. Wondering if you think there are drawbacks to this approach specifically. Great video as always!!

Also should i do these three drills the same day meaning that I will hit 1500 balls in 1 day or should I for example do 500 for drill nr1 on Monday, 500 for drill nr2 on Tuesday and 500 for drill nr3 on Wednesday. And should I complete all these before going out and play 18 holes to kinda have it programmed in my swing so it comes natural or how should I put it together? Just a lost noob here who is really trying his best to improve and I love what you shared, just wanna do it the correct way 🥰 Please answear.

Once you get it, you'll realize how much more simple the "proper" golf swing is than what most people try. Your body won't feel like it's in pain all the time either. When I finally hit my lightbulb moment, it felt like I was moving way less, hitting it way straighter and further and my back stopped hurting. Think of it more like you're covering the ball. Pulling the butt of the club past the ball and hitting the ball like you're trying to hammer it into the dirt. All of the energy goes to the target, never away from the body towards the ball. You're not swinging the club head, you're pulling the butt of the club through/over/past the ball. The turn the club with flexion into the ball. Like you're trying to turn you're lead wrist so the top of your hand is almost facing into the ground. There's a few more things that go into it but that was my major lightbulb moment that took me from high 90s to high 70s and low 80s. Other than that, I focus on turning my right hip in my backswing and using my shoulders to bring my club back almost like I'm giving the person directly to my right a thumbs up. Then as I'm turning my shoulders back, I'm pulling the club with butt pointing at the target past the ball

Here are my 3 tips to break 90 assuming it’s something you’re actually close to (if you play 100+, 90’s not a real goal): 1) Reduce the number of clubs in your bag to what you can consistently hit 200, 150, 100, 80, 40 yards + putter and sand wedge - most only need 3W/Hybrid/9i/7i/5i/PW/SW/Putter; 2) Putt for speed/distance after getting your read/alignment so you leave gimmes if you don’t make; and 3) play with smooth swing tempo and play pace - too fast or too slow lead to mistakes. Way too much swing thought/advice on these videos. Even the casual/high-handicapper can master a handful of clubs that get these distances. Golf’s biggest issue is too many clubs, too much advice, and unrealistic expectations. Chefs don’t start with trying to master a tasting menu featuring something as complex and finicky as beef Wellington. They start with knife skills, food basics, and simple meals. A lot of people simply don’t play often enough to do more than get a small subset of golf things to a point of repeatability and ease. But that’s all it takes to break 90.

Go spend it on decent golf lessons. I guarantee you can break 90 with a slice if you know how to play with it. That you have to learn. A wrist device cannot teach course management. Spend the money on lessons. This thing is ridiculous unless your a golf instructor.
