HOW TO: Brazilian Blowout / Keratin Treatment At Home! | Step by Step, Tips

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I'm doing the Keratin Treatment/Brazilian Blowout at Home! This is my guide STEP BY STEP. You can easily do it by yourself - you don't need a second person to help you. I love the results and for sure will definitely do this treatment again! I have naturally curly hair (2c) and super frizzy hair.
MORE info & photos: juliacaban.com
// Products I used:
▸ Wash N' Go Keratin Treatment by Keratin Research (keratin + clarifying shampoo + hair mask) - amzn.to/3fTHhSq / bit.ly/2WSQz7y
▸ Revlon Salon One Step Hair Dryer & Volumizer - amzn.to/2WQEQpX (Amazon), rstyle.me/~aPovP (Ulta), bit.ly/2vwNIYP
▸ Heat Iron: amzn.to/32G0qDM (I like this one a lot more)
You can also just use a regular heat iron like this one: amzn.to/2WPOewy
▸ Comb amzn.to/2WUqa9t
// Keratin Treatment in Steps:
▸ 1st step:
Clarifying Shampoo
- wash hair with a clarifying shampoo
- this will enable the opening of the cuticles
- don't use a conditioner
- wash 2-3 times for better results,
any oils or conditioner left
on the hair may affect the treatment
- rinse well and blow-dry
▸ Must Have:
- clarifying shampoo
- keratin product
- flat iron
- blow dryer
- applicator brush
- round brush, paddle brush, or brush hairdryer
- wide-tooth comb
- hair clips
- mixing bowl
- hair mask
▸ 2. Blow Dry
- brush your hair and blow-dry
- you will notice it's hard to comb through
and that's normal, it means
the clarifying shampoo was effective
▸ 3. Separate
- comb and separate
hair into 3 sections:
left, right, and back
▸ 4. Apply Keratin
- start applying the treatment
from the bottom of your hair
- start with the back section
- apply about 1 centimeter from the root
and stop halfway from the hair shaft,
then use a fine comb to spread
the product evenly
- make sure that the hair is evenly
saturated and remove the excess product
▸ Remember:
- it is extremely important that
all of your hair is
completely covered with the product
- product must be evenly
distributed throughout the hair
before proceeding to the next step
- comb through, using the fine-toothed comb
- the excess product should be combed out
of the hair and removed
▸ 5. Leave it in
- leave the product
for 30-60 minutes
▸ 6. Blow Dry
- blows-dry your hair 100% dry
using medium/high heat
- you may use a brush to
make it easier for the next step
of straightening
▸ 7. Separate
- comb and separate
hair into 3 sections:
left, right, and back
▸ 8. Straighten
- use a flat iron at 435-450°F (220-232°C)
to straighten your hair
- to make it easier you can
use heat resistance comb
- move the iron slowly from scalp to hair ends
- make sure the ends are smooth and straight
- go over the same section several times
until there are almost no fumes
- it may take 5-12 times to seal the
keratin into the cuticle
- do not overdo it since
you can burn the hair
▸ 9. Wash It Off
- wait 10-30 min after straightening
or blow dry with cold air
- you can also wait overnight
for better results
- wash your hair with SLS-free shampoo
- people with very curly hair shouldn't
wash their hair for 3 days
▸ 10. Maintenance
- use only SLS-free shampoo & conditioner
- pick a moisturizing shampoo and
conditioner to keep your healthy and
straight hair for a longer period
- don't use products containing alcohol
or silicones

Dare I say that I actually like your natural hair. It's so beautiful for your face. I have hair that has progressively gotten worse from hormonal changes. It was like yours and then suddenly turned curly and now some bits literally grow upwards in defiance. Cannot even use a flat iron properly now as my front fringe curls in bizarre ways

Than you don’t have to straighten your hair?

  • @amber_Forever16

    @amber_Forever16

    2 жыл бұрын

@@vutomi9874 no, you just blow dry your hair and instead of it being puffy after blow drying it's straight and shiny without any frizz, and you don't get frizz throughout the day even in humidity. You can air dry your hair but the treatment lasts longer if you blow dry it after every shower and also the less you wash your hair the longer it will last so only wash it if it's really greasy or has lots of buildup

Even if you get formaldehyde free product there will be compounds the mix and release formaldehyde during the process. All products are formulated with a safe amount and one exposure will be safe, the guidelines are actually in place for the service provider because they are the ones who have repeated exposure in low ventilated areas. So one treatment every six to eight weeks at home is absolutely fine

Hey, so I have a question. I wanted to make a Keratin Treatment - Bleaching Routine. My plans were to bleach my roots at first and then tone my whole hair. Then apply a good hair mask over night and do the keratin treatment the next day, I would plan on doing that every 4-5 months. I just wonder if it works that way? Can a hairdresser maybe help me out?

It will last up to 7 months but you will have to do your roots plus the secret to the Brazilian Blowout is not to blow dry and iron your hair once the service has done you have to allow the hair to cure. Meaning not to abuse your hair thermally meaning blow dryers flat irons curling irons I hear a lot of women asking me if they want to make the hair curly during the Brazilian and I tell them don't bother doing it if you're going to try to curl it after this service is just for people who want smooth frizz-free straight hair for the remainder of the year

Hi! Make sure to use product that is formaldehyde free and do your research - check all the reviews. I had negative experience with three keratin treatments and then I found this one I showed in the video and my hair just loved it! It’s not sponsored - I bought it myself;) but I also tried another keratin from the same brand and it sucked! It was the argan oil one - damaged my hair:/

Woah, that's steep. Where I live, most salons' price for this treatment are around $300. Still too much though, especially getting it done three times a year. I already get my hair fully highlighted three times a year, so I'm not too keen on spending another $1000 per year on my hair. I can use that money for something else. I will try this at home one day when I muster up the courage.

@@JuliaCaban The problem is but if you use the original Brazilian Blowout which has quite a number of steps the Brazilian blowout liter is extremely expensive so most hairdressers do not rent the station that only exists in barber shops. So 99.9% of hair stylist work on commission the cost of the product has to be deducted out of there sale before they can get their Commission and it all depends on the stylish that is working on them if they are super busy they have to calculate an hourly rate that will compensate the loss for the time focused on one client meaning if the hairdresser works for 5 hours on you and then normally booking $150 an hour that's where your cost is calculated plus they have to deduct the cost of the product but there are many alternatives to this you don't have to use the Brazilian Blowout you can use almost any keratin product but the thing you have to understand is if you're going from and methylene glycol product like the Brazilian Blowout that oxidizes gradually after about four months usually there is no trace of the product in the hair and the hair Remains the Same as it did before the service but if you use an inferior product that costs a lot less normally contains aldehyde or formaldehyde the hair after 4 months is in worse condition than it was before this is what you must understand I own for salons and this is how you decipher which one you choose to use more plus you cannot buy the Brazilian blowout over the counter even with a hairdressing license you have to register with a local distributor and they have to come to the salon and do a demo which you pay for as a salon owner there are many counterfeit Brazilian Blowouts being sold on the internet believe me I wanted to save myself the $600 a few times and purchase something that was less expensive online 99.9% it is counterfeit/expired . Do yourself a favor find someone in your local community that works in a salon that is registered with Brazilian blowout go to the Brazilian blowout website and type in your zip code and it will donate a name of a salon in your community that's uses and utilizes the Brazilian blowout treatment which in my eyes is the very best. You have to understand this is a luxury not a necessity
