How to BLEED POWER STEERING PUMP SYSTEM with NO SPECIAL TOOLS
Hey guys, here is a video that could save you a lot of trouble and money. If you replace power steering hose, power steering pump or anything that involved disconnecting power steering hose then you will need to bleed the power steering system. If you do not bleed the power steering system good you can blow a seal, hose, or even need a new power steering pump.

Depending on how old the fluid is you may even want to clean the screen in the reservoir. A lot of cars have one in the reservoir to prevent dirt getting into the system. It is common to find those screens really dirty in cars with higher mileage. You will never see it if there is fluid in there as there should normally be.

Unless your brand new (not refurbished) power steering pump seals are allowing air to be injected into the fluid, resulting with fluid froth being returned to the reservoir. Finally replaced the pump again, and problem went away. Yes, bleed the system this way BEFORE starting the engine or it will sound like a Hydrostatic Drive Lawnmower !!

Man this is giving me a headache. I recently installed a new power steering pump on my 04 Legacy. Turning is better initially, but the more sharp turns I make, the more the steering wheel gets stiffer. I popped the hood and realized there's a pool of steering fluid that's leaking from the top of the new steering pump, right where the lines go in. Does anyone have any ideas of what I could try next?
