It was black locust. I boiled it each time for 30-40minutes

Wow you're incredible actually I'd love to see you if you had a full bow steam box if you can form a bow in one shot? Maybe I'm asking a lot. Thank you for sharing your skills and product. I personally enjoyed the fact that you're doing it low tech maybe we have a chance to survive as a humanity if people keep important basic skills. I'd love to see a video where you're making the string. Out of materials that we can source when civilization falls

In my experience, if you don't glue a lam on to it, it "unfurls" after a year or 2. Have you noticed the same?

If you put it in a steam box and heat it appropriately then it should maintain that shape forever.

You will need to make separated pieces. Őr else the bow will break on the bends of the handle

Do not do that, just steamed it or smoke the wood, pretty much any TRADITIONAL bow makers steam or put the wood in smokers for a while.

I don't understand one thing: If you steam it and bend, it's absorbing moisture, which is a horrible thing for a bow. Don't you have to cure it once more after recurving it?

It doesn't absorb the moisture during this process

My dad made bows and won international championships with them. I've seen him produce a bow from the start....I think he'd laugh if he saw this. There's a very great deal of work and serious craftsmanship involved to make the real thing.

@@whodoyouthinkiam210 who's laughing? I'm just stating a fact. This is a bow and will shoot an arrow and if you're happy with that then bingo !! But if you knew anything at all about archery/bow making then you wouldn't have bothered me😉

@@scottlaugher-flintknapping perhaps you're in the thinking that English yew longbow are superior, but using heat/steam to create reflex and correct set is not some inferior technique in bow making, and in fact makes a bow with higher performance all the more. Clay Hayes has killed tons of animal with his bows and even he adds reflex using molds and heat.
