How to Bend Tube

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video I'll walk you through how I go about bending tube for a tube chassis or roll cage for the Project Scorpion Crawler Jeep Cherokee XJ Buggy Build. I'm not a pro but I've been learning a lot recently and thought you'd like to see how it's done.
Whether you want to bend tube for a roll bar, a rock slider, a tube chassis, or a roll cage, its all pretty much the same. There are a few basic rules to follow and some tools you'll need to get it done.
Here are some tools you will need:
digital angle guage: amzn.to/2dbrkJR
angle finder: amzn.to/2dbrT6D
pro tools 105 bender or any tubing bender and matching dies: amzn.to/2fBKbzY
swag kit for the bender: amzn.to/2dbrgtM
syncnotch 180 jr or any tubing notcher: amzn.to/2dZEFqg

I know it's frustrating for you but I really like that you leave in the parts like - not having the right face shield - or - not even having the welder on. I can't describe how refreshing it is to see someone else mess up the little things too. I'm sure we're all guilty of stuff like that and it's easy to feel like a compete moron when doing it. But to know that others are goofy too, it really helps. Thanks for being a real show, BleepinJeep!

You remind me of me in my youth, back in the 1980's my brother and I built most of the pro-street cars in our area. lot's of fun but also lots of work. narrowing rear ends, roll cages,4 link suspensions, ladder bars and lots of interior tin work. Now most of the tube bending I do is for exhaust systems. I built my own roll cage bender,a copy of the JD2/pro tools style bender years ago and bought dies from pro tools. I have a heavy duty bender I built just for bending 2" DOM for hotrod front axles, and a Babco bendpro 2000 for exhaust work. You do excellent work, keep it up.

45 years of being a commercial/industrial electrician I have run hundreds of miles of conduit in subways, railroads, chemical factories, hospitals, schools, airports, sewage treatment facilities and the list goes on and on. I consider myself somewhat of an expert on the subject. One of the hardest to run is aluminum ridged conduit (ARC) because aluminum work hardens when you bend it, if you over bend it and try to take a degree or two out it will bend next to the bend that you are taking it out of. We usually work from the back of the bend and deduct the radius for 90deg. Center for offsets and saddles.

I am impressed with your work on this project... 22:33 "it is ok just to tack in place" I was wondering about that. With the sheet metal I saw in the back, looks like it would be challenging to weld those pipes properly as the sheet metal would get in the way. Did you find that tack-in-place, in hindsight, was a good idea?
