A tutorial i've seen before says that for the bench press you should pull/break the bar using your lats to unrack the bar, I was wondering if thats actually necessary or can I continue to just focus on using my lats/breaking the bar for the lowering portion of the lift?

Hi, would you say this is just better suited for powerlifters? Or would you say it provides greater chest activation than not having a big arch? Cheers

warren mitchell this video is specific to powerlifting. Check out our video with Michael Goulden from Integra Education. We uploaded that very recently. That will help answer your question and maybe others too.

Would this technique translate to a dumbbell bench press? what are the differences?

Carlos V there would be slight differences purely because of the change from Barbell to Dumbbells.

Is there reasoning behind turning your feet out so much? I assume it's a torque thing, but I have I have not seen any power lifters turn their feet out for bench press that much before.

onychophorawesome Mike explains it in the video. It can be used for those that find it hard to keep their butt on the bench

Nice powerlifting form! Try to keep your heels on the ground though for maximum support
