Also, be cognizant of your audience: if I wear my work clothes to my buddies ranch I'll get laughed out of town, but if I wear my ranch clothes to the office I'll be laughed out of the board room. Same if I wore jeans cycling or cycling shorts to a restaurant.

I think a good tip to add is voice control. A man should speak in a clear and steady tone with conviction, and refrain from say “uh” and “um” every two seconds. People seem to admire these vocal qualities in others.

Great teachable moment! Appreciate the knowledge and insight. Tip#6…Everyone does this…setting me apart is handing my personal business card, it’s totally different than a business card. Sets a tone and attitude know one expects.

Good video. I have noticed woman especially remember when all the small details of you outfit match and they will even tell you about it when they meet you again.

I love your videos I realized how people react when I am mentioning my podcast and why I started it. Everybody is glued to my lips. But, I had to learn that skill. Asking question is key to this to succeed

This one is deep, --and deeply helpful

The only trouble with being a good listener is that sometimes you get stuck listening to a veteran bore.

I'll try some of these suggestions at the next team meeting (I usually sit at the back and have a quick nap)

We had a mechanic at the airline who wore a tie under his coveralls (no pants, but he did have a tie) so whenever someone was looking for someone with authority they'd instinctively go to him and he was able to get more status than his position would normally afford. I'd say no, so long as you know where the line is: he still had his coveralls so looked like he could perform the job he was hired for. As long as you don't look like a Mormon missionary you should be fine.

Because of social media we now live in a medicated world. If we are striving for peace and contentment in our live you must disengage from the media cults you are involved with. Goal is contentment not happiness.

Funny. I was at a dnner party at the club last night. I thought to myself, Oh my god i have to make small talk. And I have to listen to some blow-hard bore tell an almost interesting story. I ended up asking my friend to my right about her recent tour of Europe, and asking my two friends to my left if I could eat their tomatoes and asparagus from their plates that they didn't want to eat. It seemed like forever between the meal service and when dancing musc started. Also, I had to greet everyone at the door and give them their name tags, and I don't remember half of their names. So, being civilized and social is a lot of work for me. I am trying very hard. I just appreciate everyone's patience with me.

My eight year old son said to poor water over yourself to prove you're not a robot 😂

Great content as usual but those AI generated images are so distracting. I know they have an exact example of what you are talking about but they really made me completely lose track of what you were saying.

A much easier way to be remembered is to randomly crap yourself at a social. Hard to forget a man who does that.

I don't think it's "awful", I think it's too much with the checked jacket. If it was a plain color jacket I think the shirt would really pop. But the design on the shirt against the check pattern doesn't look good to me.

Ha ha ha ha! Talk about themselves and talk about their job. In the US this would have worked, but in Sweden we don't do that in Sweden, we don't talk about ourselves more than our names, nor more about our jobs. We quickly say what your profession is, then nothing more. We Swedes don't like to talk about ourselves or our jobs. In addition, we would never brag about anything, we have something called the Jäntelagen which means: You should not think you are better than anyone else. (This means we don't talk about ourselves).

No, this has nothing to do with the mobile phone, but that's how it's always been in Sweden, that you don't talk about yourself or what you work on, of course there are exceptions but these people are not popular among the other people in the room if they say so. Without introducing who you are and if someone asks what your profession is. Then you talk about something completely different. Then the absolutely forbidden question to ask is what a person's salary is, because you never get an answer to that anyway. Those who move to Sweden learn this and it is not so easy to understand that culture.. The weather with me, I live in Sweden's northernmost city Kiruna (which is now known throughout the world, because the city is being moved, due to ore mining in the mine). We have snow but not that much and -9 degrees celcius.

​@@ingvartorma9789Salery used to be verboten in our culture, but there's been a culture among employers in the last decade allowing inflation to erode real wages, so that has changed, especially in my generation. Even if you're not friends, if you meet someone in the same industry in roughly the same position, it's very common to ask "if you don't mind my asking..." and then swap salary intel so that you both can figure out if you're being compensated fairly within your industry by your current employer, or if you need to go across the street and apply at a competitor. When I first got into the airlines, we had a few pilots who, over the course of a single year, worked at 4 different airlines because the wages and the demand for their skills had gotten so out of balance that all the airlines were fighting for their experience. They ended up back at the same company in the end, making almost double what they'd been making when they left a year earlier: had the airline just paid them what they were worth they'd have saved everyone a bunch of trouble!

I am not in Sweden; but, in my social circles, everone works at hghly secret and confidential jobs, so no one talks about work at all. Only about hobbies and non-work things. I mean, sometimes you know the building or location of the job, or some vague job description, but, that is it. I know some people live in highly social business areas, where everyone shares business information to get ahead, and that is a totally different lifeslyle than what I am used to.

I love to talk about anything but myself. I have nothing to say really. Everybody talks about like, travels they done, people they know etc.
