Though they say they are trying to bring balance to the Force, users of the Dark side do not create darkness, but users of the light side create light constantly by existing. Thus, the only way to bring balance to the Force is to control the numbers of light-sided Jedi. And yet, they continue to deny the dark side and create inordinate amounts of new light-side Jedi. Linkophere But the Jedi did do a holocaust on the sith and killed over ten thousand innocent and defenseless sith purebloods with no mercy which aren't the evil ones but what the sith originated from because of their vast knowledge of the dark side of the force. The Jedi also wouldn't help anyone who opposed them even though they "value all life". The Jedi also didn't find disobeying the Jedi code very bad by partaking in violent acts like turning from peacekeepers to war generals and destroying thousands of battle droids and aliens because they opposed the side the Jedi were part of. Both the Jedi and the sith wanted to drag the other side down so one side could rule the galaxy. The Jedi would also kidnap force sensitive younglings from their families. They also enslaved an army of clones and forced them to walk into their deaths. So the Jedi are very similar to the sith. And also, the galactic empire was the side that destroyed allderan not the sith (meaning emperor palpatine.)

Evil? Eh, depends on the Sith we're talking about. Being a force wound and eating planets is pretty evil IMO. Authoritarian would be the proper term for the Sith.

There is one thing I want to know. In the SW Universe, is it possible to become Sith without a conventional master? Example; The Sith have once again been wiped out from the Galaxy, and one wants to bring back the Sith. One finds Sith artefacts and Holocrons and learns for it. Seeing as there is no master to elevate him, is it possible in an extream case to elevate yourself to master status (This is taking into account that the Sith have truly been annihilated with no one or ghost able to train another)

I have a theory on why Sidious chose Anakin. He needed someone to lead the Jedi purge and leave a crippling blow to the republic. He then wanted Anakin to kill the Seperatists so that no one could trace Palpatine's history to them. However once Anakin's purpose was complete, Sidious was going to kill him. He already owned the galaxy and had not only an army, but a war machine capable of destroying planets. So he had no further need of Anakin. However, with Anakin's defeat by Obi-Wan, Sidious saw a new opportunity for his apprentice. He knew that now Vader was no longer a threat, so he decided to give him a body that was strong enough to be used against his enemies.

The reality was that Palpatine had an advantage in knowledge to begin with, and when Anakin was almost killed in his fight with Obi-Wan, he was able to ensure that Anakin got cybernetics and armour that was only good enough to barely keep him alive, and the fact that Vader's entire body was more machine than man kept him from using the Force to his full potential. It's also likely that Palpatine expected Anakin to be crippled from the beginning, either through Force visions or just sheer scheming. He wouldn't have made the mistake of taking him on as an apprentice if he didn't have a plan to weasel his way out of being overthrown as a Sith master should be.

He chose anakin because even though anakin was stronger, he didn't want to kill palpatine because he "knows" how to save padme

Not until after Padme died, then Anakin was just a slave to the will of Sidious. Anakin became almost fully emerged into the Dark Side, so he craved power, plus Vader would have easily died at the hands of Sidious.

Maul was before Tyrannus, they were never under Sidious at the same time. Just watch the movies, you would know that Maul was defeated and abandoned by Palapatine years before Dooku came under his reign.

Personally I love Star Wars Explained, but this channel's surge in subscribers is impressive, most impressive. Yesterday he had around 16 thousand and now he has almost 20k! I only discovered this channel recently but is quickly becoming one of my favs.

I like that the movies keep the sith somewhat mysterious but it would also be nice to see a sith that's likeable but also doesn't just die.

Favourite example of Sith concealment was when Zannah infiltrated the Jedi temple & was able to study in the archives for a full week without being caught

I've always looked at the Sith as being in the same business as the Jedi, they both want to bring order. A Jedi seeks to be an example, to inspire others to greatness. A Sith seeks to be great. they don't trust others, those that they see as their lesser, and the galaxy is full of lesser beings.

It is funny how well you worked on your voice and technique in past year. I came around with this one year old video from now and it is a tremendous success. Love your channel, good job!

I know this is sort of irrelevant but one time I made my own Star Wars book series that I would show to my friends that happens billions of years after the rise of skywalker where the Jedi and the sith have rebuilt and the rule of two has been destroyed the main character is a mandalorian found to be strong with the force at about 2 years old his name is Krait Starkiller (named after the krait dragons and starkiller being a common last name in Star Wars) anyways he is found by a Jedi master while the Jedi where raiding a mandalorian camp during the 4th mandalorian wars he is trained in the ways of the Jedi (note his masters saw that he was very interested in darth reven and his lightsaber had a normal shape but a black crystal leading many Jedi to worry of him falling to the dark side) for his 11th birthday the master that had brought krait to Jedi asked him to come to mustafar confused krait desided to go they both arrive swing the ruins of dart Vader’s castle the master would then teach krait small forms of the dark side of the force (similar to mace windu) a week would have past and the master would present krait with a mask krait would realize that it was the mask of darth reven the master would explain that krait was in fact related to darth reven (I came up with a reason why he is a mandalorian and related to reven but it is a long story) A few notes (krait did not like to meditate also his lightsaber was able to transform between a every type of lightsaber very few force users had a lightsaber that could do that wore a mix between a black robe and mandalorian armour and had his own small ship)by the age of 14 he would sneak into the restricted section of the Jedi archives and practice hidden force abilities and would soon find a sith holocron showing Jedi using dark side force abilities to kill mandalorians enraged he would travel to korriban and join the sith he was bottom at the sith academy and was not respected by instructors or students but when a challenge was given to him to go into the tomb of darth reven he would learn about malacore V and how he could learn to destroy planets he also resived a scar across his right eye fighting another student in the tomb he sort of became like darth sion existing the tomb he would see a female Jedi from the Jedi temple (human same age as krait the only Jedi in his class that did not hate him for being a mandalorian) a lot of other stuff happens but I’m getting tired of typing so basically they both eventually become the leaders of the sith

Sidious did not conceal himself completely from he Jedi. On purpose. They knew as Mace Windu said "The Dark Side of the Force surrounds him" They knew not to trust him or any one else who was into polatics. Which provided him with more cover not knowing he was the Sith Lord himself.

if the sith master picks and inferior apprentice then how can this possibly advance the siths progression towards greater power... Also with the apprentice doing away with the master before he has shared is knowledge how can they avoid loose of knowledge.... the rule of two is flawed in this way... Though this is not it's main purpose as it was intended to avoid the greater infigthing the sith would resort to.. Frankly I think they should have done something like Darth Vectivus did... i.e write their moral code in stone before starting training and keep to it... that way they could have been more effective Also Vectivus more kind of kept to business rather then the whole waving light sabres around and starting wars... Psychopaths do well in business... they could win the galaxy through financial domination...

I like how in SWTOR, instead of being a mindless warrior, you can actually dedicate your life to a better tomorrow for the Empire.

The original Sith were a race known as Sith purebloods. After Ajunta Pall and the Dark Jedi were exiled to Korriban, the Dark Jedi conquered the Sith. Over time, the two would bear offspring and the Sith and the Dark Jedi would form the Sith Order. Ajunta Pall was known as the first Dark Lord of the Sith.

I live in a country were, things are difficult, we don't get the comics, however if you do have some web site(s) that would help, by the way great narrative and keep it up.

I still like how in the far-reaches of the star wars galaxy, there's a good chance of a few other genuine "Sith", and not just dark-jedi or cultists. But rather some random force sensitive who came across sith holocrons, and that's all they know.

I always thought the rule of two was stupid.

Thats the most vexing question regarding the so called rule of two! I'd not want to be looking over my shoulder the whole time waiting for the inevitable betrayal! I don't see how an organization like that can persist

The rule of two was less about self empowerment and more about empowerment of the sith as a whole, so look at it like this: For an apprentice to kill his/her master, that apprentice would have to be more powerful, then that apprentice would become the master, and take on his own apprentice, who would have to become more powerful than his own master, and by extension, his master's master. Meaning that each new sith would be more powerful than those that came before. It ended with Darth sidious, who was arguably the most powerful sith of all.
