    The funny thing about "The Meg" is how, in reality, even without the obvious ability to debunk the existence of a Megalodon today, the submarine at the bottom of a trench would have imploded the second the monster wrecked the hull of the submarine enough to allow water to get in. It would have undergone a decompression and implosion like the Titan Sub and everyone would have died. Statham included.

    I love how no one notices this huge mistake in the movie: In the beginning of the movie Jonas and the undersea team that he is rescuing are assumed to be attacked by the Meg (we never actually saw it but Jonas claims that it was), however we learn later on in the movie, that the crew (including Jonas’s ex wife) will be the first people ever to go below the surface floor. Yet we are told that the Meg can not go above this floor because of its freezing temperature. Therefore what attacked Jonas couldn’t possibly have been the Meg as no one had gone below the surface floor yet and raised the temperature, which means the Meg had no way to get to the ship that Jonas was in at the beginning of the movie. There’s no way there could have been a previous Meg above the surface floor as it would have caused havoc already and definitely have been detected. I don’t know if this was intentional, but I mean the entire plot was kinda based on that one event because it was almost an ‘I KNEW IT’ event for Jonas.

    The orca idea was absolutely hilarious and would definitely have been interesting to see, but unfortunately orcas swim in freezing cold waters and are native to places like Alaska and Norway, quite far from where our hero’s are, so they would either have to lead a pod of orcas to the Meg or lead the Meg half way across the ocean to get it to orcas, which most likely wouldn’t work due to the change in water temperature, currents, the length of the journey etc, although I would pay to see a Meg 2 where a group of orcas takes down a megaladon

    The orca plan is crayon-eatingly stupid. Literally the dumbest idea anyone ever had. They don't attack anything bigger than themselves or even the same size. There is zero chance of them even hurting a 60 foot carnivore that can literally ignore them. They don't even have hyperextending jaws necessary to bite onto larger prey. Their smartest tactic is literally splashing water. They're laughably useless here.

    @@ines0499 I stand corrected. Problem: Balleen whales literally don't fight back. They'll swim at something attacking a different whale to scare it off, but they do absolutely nothing about things attacking themselves because they can't. They can't turn fast, change speed fast, bite at all... Best they hope for is a lucky fluke flip. Second problem: They drown large prey by pulling them under. That doesn't work on sharks. Those have to be held still and that's impossible here. Sharks are designed to turn around on a dime due to their flipper orientation. I still stand by a meg being absurdly too much for an orca pod. Especially when all it takes is killing one to scare off the entire pod. They eat whales regularly. That's what they're designed and programmed to do. Orcas are functionally just baby whales. There is still no universe where an orca pod is doing anything here. Dr. Strange himself looked into 14 million futures and found none.

I mean, if they can make a large enough Glider, then it would just lure the Meg back to where it was, after sending it on a wild goosechase, then cut back to the surface water right when it closes, and then you could turn the movie from an hour and 53 minutes to 20 minutes!

    Wait so if you covered the sub in a layer of vanta black and its hydrophobic would the sub sink? Because the sub wouldn't be able to touch the water so would it just fall straight down?

  • @bonk3

    @bonk3

    11 ай бұрын

    It would sink faster, but it also might float to limit contact with the water. Quoting u/rs6866, "Hydrophobic coatings are not my specialty, but I do know a lot about fluid mechanics. After a bit of searching, the answer appears to be yes. Coating something with a hydrophobic coating should cause it to sink faster. My reasoning comes from this source which shows that hydrophobic coatings eliminate the no-slip condition on solid boundary walls. Normally on the wall of a solid boundary, the fluid velocity must be zero. This causes more viscous (skin friction) drag, and allows for boundary layer separation (which causes pressure drag on a solid object). With a hydrophobic coating, it appears like at the wall there was 10% free stream velocity... so although the water slows down a lot, it doesn't come to a complete stop at the wall. This would reduce the size of the separation bubble, if one exists for the object in question, and hence its pressure drag. It would also reduce skin-friction drag. Lower drag would result in a higher terminal velocity, as a faster velocity could be achieved with a constant force (gravity)."

    11:10 Woah, woah, woah. A "Collosal Giant Squid"? There are two species here- the Collosal Squid and the Giant Squid. Which is it? Is it a collosal Giant Squid or a giant Collosal Squid? Or is it something else? You can't use an adjective to describe a specific creature when a different species uses that adjective as a name. I wouldn't call a "Collosal Squid" giant or a "Giant Squid" collosal for this exact reason. And there are very distinct differences between the species.
