Thank you for the upload. I actively examined the lines you discussed in your previous collab and I found it very interesting and helpful. You guys work well together, looking forward to diving into this video.
Man, this is so cool. When I discovered your channel a couple of months ago I mainly just watched for the entertainment value and didn't relate to a lot of the chessiness itself. Then I started playing and started loving it. Now on this video, I know exactly what you're talking about, I've seen all these positions myself and I get so much value out of this. Amazing, thank you so much, Eric.

Thank you! Already after 2 minutes i learned a valuable lesson in a situation i often is in. :) :) Botez also ask so many interesting question, but i am not so experienced, so i will have to watch this video 100 times to remember all of the answers.. To be very honest, this lesson will be so much more VALUABLE if you've played the London enough times to understand the dynamics of each position and how the board changes. Internalizing this will be easier and really improve your play. Superb video from Rosen and Andreea here.
7:34 I had the exact same position and went for the Greek gift thinking it's winning but forgot about Nf6
42:22 some magic teleportation of pieces. I kept playing through the moves and wondering how my position didnt match.

wow that was a great webinar...please feature Adrea in more of your videos...she is really asking questions that every intermediate level chess player would like to know
10:30 is very similar to the Kamsky line except no Nd2, but you can pretty much get there with the series of forcing moves NxN BxN BxB QxB PxP QxP BxP+ and then decide if KxB with Ng5+ coming and does the King really want to venture out to g6?
Thanks sir
I am a London player, I am at 800 though but I am getting so much help from you. Please keep making videos like this. Thank you Eric
1000 rating London player here, and this video helped a lot, I'm excited to learn some fun lines
Please do the addition of the reverse London for black
Was about to watch this to go to sleep, then I saw the collab. Guess I’m watching this tomorrow.
At the 35 minute mark in the video, if you already have your knight on c3 and the queen moves to b6, move your a2 pawn to a3, when the queen takes your b2 pawn, move your knight on c3 to a4 and trap the queen. It will take some more moves to capture the queen, once you do that , you will still be able to take the rook on a8 with your queen or knight depending on if your opponent takes your knight once it's on b6. and your queen will be sitting on a1 so it can take the rook if needed.
As a London player, I found this video extremely useful :) just a quick question though regarding the first "puzzle warm-up" position. It seems like a position you wouldn't normally get to, as playing 8.Bg3 expecting for black to _maybe_ play 8. Nh5 doesn't seem like a realistic option. I was wondering if there is a more realistic sequence of moves to get to a similar position where you allow the knight to capture the bishop on g3 so you can play Bxh7+ ?
@stormvandenberg7745
2 жыл бұрын
It does occur sometimes, depending on your rating. The main point of studying lines like these however, is to recognize the patterns when they do occur, even when the position isn't 100% the same. When you recognize the pattern just remember this line and calculate if it still works.
Hi Eric, What software are you guys using, you guys mentioned the chess board is synced.
Good video

Eric Rosen is a legend. Case closed.
11:09 black can avoid this simply using the other knight to take and them instead moving the pawn, move the knight to f6.
Can you please do a lesson on how to play people who don’t play/know theory and respond with weird moves

I really need to see Eric laughing out loud his voice is so quiet 😂
10:12 after 12.Nexf7+ Rxf7 it's even better to play 13.Bxd6, because if Black isn't careful and retakes 13...Qxd6?, 14.Nxf7+ wins the queen :) if they don't, it just transposes to the line shown, so just an additional little trap at no risk. to Stockfish it makes no difference -- this nicely illustrates that what's good for humans isn't necessarily good for Stockfish.
The two cutest chess streamers
the last time stamp, lol Dessert? NO, DESERT
At like 8:00 minutes they discuss how you can't do the Greek gift bc the knight can just go back but what if after the check with ng5 if you just take their knight with your other knight and move your queen if they take the knight back or take the rook if they try to kick the g5 knight and just move the g5 knight back to f3 meaning you'd be up a rook for a bishop if the attack fails or you'd be mating if they took d7 and you were able to get the queen over without interference

If you take the d knight, doesn't the Greek gift work?

Hey Eric at about 41 minutes in you said this was a discovered fork, but - and correct me if I'm wrong, I believe that is technically called a dork.
My favourite moment was 24:08 👍🏻
8:00 why can’t white just play NxNd7 removing the potential defender, then go for the Greek gift idea?
@jgturner6
3 жыл бұрын
I wondered the same thing. I had to check with an engine, but I should have calculated it out. I just don´t have much experience with the greek gift, so sometimes forget to check defensive resources. But from memory, the point is that in this position, the black king comes to g6 (after Ng5+). And if then Qg4 for example, black has f5, hitting the queen and also giving the king the f7 square to escape to. :) Ben Finegold has a decent lecture on the greek gift, where I think he said that if the black king comes to g6, there´s usually a 50/50 chance that black gets mated or escapes and is a piece up. But obviously one should calculate super well, especially in slow chess. In blitz I guess, when the king come to g6, it´s usually difficult to defend. :)
is a discovered fork/ discovered 'pork' a 'dork'????
In the position at 10:47 can you play Nxd7 and then Greek gift?
@DavidfromMichigan
2 жыл бұрын
The would take with the bishop, connecting the rooks. Then after white moves Qh5, black moves Re8, allowing an escape for black.

@@DavidfromMichigan thankyou. I'm actually quite proud I found a beginner idea over a year ago when I was pretty much a novice. Anyway I'm still shit at chess and would still 100% go for that attack (if I saw it).
