honestly it’s really stressful and kinda overrated

I've been a captain of my team for 5 years now and the thing I find most important is momentum even if you have a bad team keep the momentum high and make sure you're whole team is happy (dont just put everyone in defense) keep pushing them and celebrate with them when they do well

Funny thing is, I’m gonna be the only senior next year on my hs team. There’s never really been a “captain”per say, but I want to help lead my team and help us do well enough in regions to make it to state playoffs this year. Thanks for these tips. 🙏

I made it to be captain of my school being a junior on High school and my first decision was to give it to a friend who always work hard. He’s the type of player who’s important for the team but doesn’t get a lot of attention.

I think it's also important to always show respect (to teammates, coach, ref and the other team) and you should constantly communicate on and off field.

Hey unisport... as a captain myself I remember that I can't captain thin air.. which means it's the team who also makes the captain see... a captain shouldn't put his armband ahead of the team. Don't think you are the best player in the world understand that your team wants the best for you as well and you have to give the credit back to the team. I love your analysis though. Great video

Hi Unisport, I think the best captain for any team, in any country, for any sport, is one who is a GOD fearing and honoring player. One who supports his or her teammates when there are challenging times, praising his or her teammates for winning the league or even scoring for the first time. Men like Tim Tebow who played American football is a devote and strong Christian. And Siya Kolisi, the captain of the South African national rugby team, gives prays to GOD the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit when they win, or lose. Those are the examples of great captains!

I'm not the one wearing the armband but I'm the one instructing all my teammates when we are playing. My friend who is the captain of our team wanted me to be captain but I said he could rally everyone in practice and outside of football so I said to him he should be the captain while I just direct everyone in the pitch. Basically we half the captaincy between each other.
