A leader is a teacher. A leader is a servant who is equal to the people surrounding them and cares for them by giving them the basic necessities. A leader is also a student who is also learning from their actions, and their consequences. A leader is a doctor who tries to heal any problems that are occurring in the team and tries to solve them. Yes, you get the perks, but that’s not the reward of a leader. The real reward is the successors for who you have reached and how many generations it passes down to. How many people were inspired by your actions and words? To become a leader, it requires work, it requires the respect to your followers, and in return, the respect from your followers. A leader’s job is to motivate a person into doing something and making them passionate about it. It’s not just about giving commands and sitting back. It’s about communication and team building, and a leader should know that every person contributes. Now this comment is a fraction of what he said, and it’s not nearly of what the full detail is said. I could not explain it in full words myself of what a leader is, and this video explain it all.

You are SO RIGHT. Been watching you for only a month. You have great understanding and A PASSION I used to have. I have been the guy just getting the job done. Now, 2 years into it I'm now the one taking care of that one to my right and one to my left. Now I've come to realize I have been watching the wrong people in there leadership abilities. I'm having to COMPLETELY rethink and rewire my brain because what I learned WAS WRONG. I forgot My roots and followed in the wrong foot steps. Because of you , and a select few others, I am seeing my way into a GREATER LIFE. I THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for all you do. I am a LIFE LONG sub and will look into any Wed sites you have or endorse.

I remember, it was my first time to be a leader in my entire life and it was for our research subject, I thought I would be handling just 1 research, but it turned out to be 2 researches at the same time. The first thing that came into my mind is that, I need to help them build their confidence in things like this. I told them to not hesitate to point out things that they find uncomfortable with me. I have a lot of self doubt and felt like giving up, because my leadership style is different from my other groups. I focused on helping my members in enhancing their skills and also helping them understand to do things for themselves and for the group as a whole, and not just for me or just because I told them to do so. I doubted myself because I felt like we were delayed (other groups were almost done). But I trusted my members and trusted myself and continued what we were doing. At the end of the school year, our research 1 was defended and set to be published. And for our research 2, it was also defended and we were given a certificate because it was the Best Research Paper from our batch 😊. I am so proud of them and to our group as a whole, and I hope they will always cherish the things that we learned from each other.

Simon's message is to help us learn & understand that we need to work on becoming a better person. Only then we can help to better communicate what each of us have learned during our course of Life. A lot of us automatically assume that our Brain is Now charged with some amazing information and then we empower our EGO with temporary knowledge; Some people hear to respond, try Listening to understand. Take time to appreciate your Life (Living)--The meaning of Life is to Live. Sun rises and sets everyday without our help. Stay humble.; Thank you Simon - I'm glad to see someone strong enough to voice this message.

This is so true. Too many do not take responsibility for failure or problems. Only for success and good. That is not a true leader. A true leader takes responsibility for both good and bad and takes action to stop bad things from happening.

thank you, simon. I love my job. You made this clear to me: loving a job is good to most people. Also, being the last to speak does have two advantages as you said, first let all folks in the room feel they are heard, secondly, give one more time to collect information before expressing an option. Glad to know this was done also by Nelson Mandla.

(Using specific examples from your experience, what are two strengths that you have as a leader? How did you develop these strengths? Conversely, what are two areas that you would like to grow in, or improve on, in terms of leadership? How will IYLEP help you with these areas of improvement? ) how would you answer this, its an exchange program going to USA for a month. so can you help me?

I think everyone should learn when to debate and when to communicate and listen. Because it’s a great quality for leaders and non-leaders alike. Intaking what the other person has to say doesn’t always mean you accept it. I think that’s one of the most misconceptions in listening to another’s ideals and beliefs. Additionally, as he said, it gives the other person a sense of being heard, listened to, and respected.
