This was a great interview. I would love to scout and I definitely believe scouting is underrated plus there’s a lack of scouts in the US where I’m at. I can’t afford the coaching licenses here in the US and you need those for the scouting course.

That s true Mr.Robinson ,scouts are underrated in the football industry in the last 10-15 years, but in the last 2-3 years there is an emerging trend of live scouts and talent scouts having a major influence on player transfer decisions. Whats your opinion ?

Not sure what chris thinks but I'd say that could be true for sure. Much more usage of stats and video too allowing for worldwide scouting at a much lower cost

I see many parents who pay for their kids's access to the academy. What do you think of this? For example, by paying coaches to ensure stronger players are not called to play on trial days or big matches.

Seems dodgy to me but I don't doubt that stuff may happen. All comes down to the ability really so if I 'bought' my kid a way into a trial game, it might gain access initially, but the kid is then just going to get found out and cut loose anyway if they aren't good enough. Don't like the idea of paying coaches/agents though for stuff like that.

Nice interview, some of my takeaways.. Some good info about the recruitment in UK Early specialization, and being able to play in multiple positions, so important for players. Qualities of the game, and players. Qualities of a Scout - know everyone, building a network on integraty, taking notes, talking during the match and not watching the game. Future of Scouts- scouts to act professionally before they expect to be made professionals.⚽🎙
