    I could do a video on this actually... basically, break the game down into the events/actions that occur. Using a software like this (www.in-playsports.com/software/individuals) you get a timeline which timestamps all the actions to make it easier to review. You then get a timeline of the match (like the first image on that link). Hope that helps!

    Thanks for watching 👍🏼 Subjective would include anecdotal information based on an individual's perceptions, experiences, and emotions. Players might complete a questionnaire for example or a coach may have a certain perception of the game. Subjective would be the 'facts' numbers around what actually happened. Number of shots, passes etc.

    The difference between them leagues is only financial. Certainly not in terms of quality of football. Over half the premier league games are awful in terms of technical quality. I’m guessing you don’t watch any foreign football. Finances are important don’t get me wrong. But you have the Italian league who has massive clubs based on success not wealth. Roma, Fiorentina, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus, Napoli and Lazio. The premier League has two big clubs and the rest are big on finances not in terms of pure footballing merit. This is why the premier league will never have my respect

    These are a year or so old but I would say they probably haven't changed much. There is such a huge range too. If you are really good and work your way up to an elite team, you may earn much more than I've stated, but we still often see far to many 'unpaid' roles and then very low starting salaries. People definitely do for the passion rather than to earn a lot of money, which is a shame given how rich the clubs are and how much impact these roles can have...

    I see many parents who pay for their kids's access to the academy. What do you think of this? For example, by paying coaches to ensure stronger players are not called to play on trial days or big matches.

  • @chrisgill_UK
    @chrisgill_UK3 ай бұрын

    Seems dodgy to me but I don't doubt that stuff may happen. All comes down to the ability really so if I 'bought' my kid a way into a trial game, it might gain access initially, but the kid is then just going to get found out and cut loose anyway if they aren't good enough. Don't like the idea of paying coaches/agents though for stuff like that.

    Could multiple saved shots in the span of a few seconds be recorded as a total of over 1 xG? Even though the maximum possible goals that could come from that situation would be only 1 because 1 goal would result in a kickoff? Maybe some models would take this into account?

  • @chrisgill_UK
    @chrisgill_UK3 ай бұрын

    Each attempt would be given a score even if the the second is just a second or few seconds after the first. The combined xG of both shots could be above 1, but the would be recorded as separate attempts. It does bring up the point of needing to factor in many things such as GK position etc. (if they have just saved the first attempt). Thanks for watching 👍🏼

    It’s impressive but also sad. The soul of football is being ripped out. Everything is so data driven. Football used to be an allegory for life, unpredictable. Now every team team plays the same no matter what their skill level, then mavericks and individualism is being squeezed out. This is dangerous stuff…

  • @dimman_21
    @dimman_213 ай бұрын

    Not really in my opinion. Teams were always trying to optimise their winning chances and there were always trends. If anything, these days more variety exists due to different approaches and interpretations clubs give to their data. The soul of football is being ripped out from excessive calendars and ridiculous sums of money, not technology.

Let's see how it all plays out!

  • @Korol1989
    @Korol19893 ай бұрын

    Football is definitely changing (or has changed), but I'm not sure it is sad. Aviation, for instance, has also changed. In the past, pilots had to fly planes on their own; now, they have GPS, autopilots, autoland systems, fly by wire, what not. Do we say that the soul of aviation is being ripped? It is safer to fly today than ever before. Likewise, in football, players and managers today are better (tactically, mentally, physically, etc.) then ever before. Maybe fewer mistakes means less excitement, but it also means higher quality of the game. And I don't agree that mavericks are being squeezed out. How about Will Still, for instance? Would his story be possible without computers and data?
