How to Baste a Quilt!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Finally I had some time to get the library quilt basted.
I thought I would make a quick video showing you how I do the basting on quilts that are too large for my table.
This method works for me but it’s not for everyone. I won’t lie, it’s hard on the knees. I know my knees were pretty unhappy with me by the time I was done. 😂
If I had the space I would invest in a larger table so that I would not have to baste my quilts on the floor.

😂😂 Sorry, I didn’t mean to make your knees hurt. I don’t think I’ll be able to do it this way much longer. My knees were definitely hurting after I was done. Have a wonderful weekend Nancy!

I used a ping pong table when I had massive yardage to use for drapes. Great for cutting and pin time. Plus it folds up out of the way. Kids can use it to. Ty

Oh that’s a great idea. Maybe I’ll try to get a used ping pong table. That way I can fold it up and move it out of the way when I’m done. Thank you 😊

Your quilt is so pretty!! I used to pin baste too, and as the quilts got bigger, I switched to basting spray. But the pinning is such a time-honored method, if it didn’t hurt our knees so much!:) Thanks for sharing!

@@SarasQuiltingJourney You too! I would try the spray for the first time on a small quilt (you probably already knew that!) it’s so different from pin basting, but I feel like l get smoother quilts without any surprise wrinkles on the back.:)

@@susanonealsmith8434 Thank you for the tip. I always seem to get those pesky wrinkles in the back. Good to know this will help prevent that.
