Now do "how to disable auto-open" for files types that traditionally open before one could ever click on them (due to small file size), such as JPGs. As well, the newest version of Chrome no longer has the "Advanced" menu, and the setting to change auto-open off/on for file types is no longer in the program.

.exe / .zip and .dat will not open automatically and the option is greyed out when trying to open this type of file automatically. This is for security reasons you won't automatically install malware

Im here to do the opposite. Its annoying how chrome automatically opens everything i download.
