A good tip instea of using the shakeshake motion is to use the palm down, you are much stronger there. This comes from Gordon Ryan

Thanks for this, Vanessa! Questions about the very start: While you're shaking their hand loose to get it to the mat, is your weight 50/50 in their arm and in your hips? Or slight shift to one or the other? Do you vine your opposite leg to keep them pinned while you're hunting the arm? Ty again 🙏

Great question! I use the vine when I’m setting up cross collar choke. This set up I am using all of my weight forward on the arm, however my legs are always squeezing their upper body (like riding a horse). When I move the knee up by the shoulder weight is then back on their torso but always actively squeezing 😊 I hope this helps, thank you for watching!

question your falling to the knee, I was always told one produces more pressure by falling on a slight angle the other way so normally I'll always fall the opposite angle myself, through if you have the arm totally locked out it probably doesn't matter ....

not to be that guy. But do you have any advice when they are so strong that bodyweight isn't enough?

You should never try to armbar a stronger opponent from Mount because there's too many less risky options, maintain your position above all and only go for a high-risk position losing submission like an armbar if you're being thrown off anyway and it's a last-resort option👈

Never say never 😏 I use armbars every single training against stronger opponents. The key is to understand your opponents options and shut them all down. It takes a long time to be proficient but once it clicks, it’s really fun 😎 thanks for watching!

@@brazilianjiu-jitsusubmissi2871 of course it CAN work however it's just not the best strategy to initiate a submission hold where you are very likely to lose position if you miss the catch so you should teach all your submissions in combination... in my opinion the best series is to go for the Kimura from a dominant striking position because you can bail on it if you need to and still maintain your position A strong explosive wrestler will likely wiggle out of your first few attacks so it's best to wear them down especially because their work-rate is so frantic Go for low-risk attacks until you're certain he's tired and or does something really foolish that gives you an opportunity to set the attack and only go for an armbar when you're getting pushed off anyway, it's really a submission you should never initiate from a dominant striking position... risk-benefit analysis is something you have to consider on every single move you make and you're much more likely to miss it and wind up underneath that powerful wrestler, I like the way you think about the setup but I would go for the key lock then chokehold combination a few times and as they Panic out and use way too much energy and bad form to push you off slap on the arm bar if it's looking like you're going to be pushed off either way

@@nicholasnj3778 wrestlers are universally stronger than BJJ guys because they live in a more explosive world and don't have lapel grips to slow things down... anatomical grips are much less for giving so they demand more explosiveness and strength
