How to apply Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light | Cambridge Autogleam Detailing Demo

In this video I show you how to apply Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light.
The key to a smooth application process is in the correct preparation of the paint so make sure the car is thoroughly washed, decontaminated, polished and wiped with a panel wipe prior to the application of the sealant.
Work on small areas and buff immediately with brand new microfibre cloths making sure you quickly remove all residue smears before they are able to set.

    I've applied the coating to the entire hood, doors, fenders, etc. Plenty of time to wipe off. CSL is a breeze to install/apply compared to EXOV4 which can be rather smeary/greasy on wiping it off. CSL by itself is enough and is very durable!

    Anthony Cerce you can if you'd like just make sure the headlights and tailights are prepped fully. All it would do to the trim is darken it but you can tape it off if you're worried about getting it on the trim.

    Hello Cambridge Auto Gleam, great informative video. I am about to purchase the Crystal Serum Light. This coating seems to be a wipe on (apply) and wipe off product from what I viewed in the video. I am asking as “other” coatings seem to have to set for a few seconds (30-45) to a minute or so. Can you tell me if this is wipe on and wipe off? Thank you, Howard

    No I generally just use 2 or 4 for the whole car depending on how big it is. 1 towel folded into 4 gives you 8 useable clean sides so as long as you don't drop it you can go far with just the 2 towels on a small / medium size car.

    With any ceramic coating you should throw them away and use new towels. What happens is that after buffing the microfibre towels now have a layer of ceramic coating on them that hardens, reusing such a towel would cause scratches to the paint.

    Have you had multiple layers built up for CSL in any of the details ? How was the experience with layer 2 onwards ? I personally used CSL in slightly extreme conditions (in a covered shade, 34C and 60% humidity and the product applied very dry on to the surface and wasn't oily while spreading.. That pushed me to work in small sections, use more product.. ) I have set one bottle aside to use in winters so hoping it gives me a good time to spread. One thing that I'd like to point for all is that the coating is extremely slick (almost unlike any other coating)..

  • @Stratoszero
    @Stratoszero7 жыл бұрын

    Couple of questions before I attempt this bud: 1. Do you need to mask off headlights and chrome parts (the Porsche isn't masked in the video)? 2. Once you have used one side of the quarter folded microfibre is that it, so you get 8 wipes per cloth then bin it as I assume the residue is hardening and risk scratching?

  • @riseandshinedetailing9658

    @riseandshinedetailing9658

    7 жыл бұрын

    Stratoszero you don't need to mask off Chrome or headlights. The coating won't hurt them but you can mask them if you'd like. The microfibers you can soak in straight undiluted apc (all purpose cleaner) and until your done with the car then you can wash them and reuse if you'd like. But, a lot of guys rather be safe then sorry and will trash the old Microfibers

    HI There. A 30ml bottle will cover a small / medium size car. When you get more experienced with using the coating and if you use the suede applicator you can make the product go a bit further. I usually cover a whole car with 2/3 of a bottle these days. Yes I'd bin the applicator after each use so you will need to buy additional applicators if you want to use that same bottle on another car. The torch was from polished bliss and seems to be discontinued now I'm afraid but any diffused LED torch or inspection lamp / bar would be fine. Glad you like the videos. ¿Que tipo de marcas, Restos del producto? Si es así, deja menos tiempo entre aplicación y retirada, el truco para estos coating es aplicarlos y retirarlos con segundos de diferencia, así te aseguras no dejar marcas, e importante retirar bien el producto. En paneles grandes no hagas todo el panel, hazlo por zonas, por ejemplo el techo en 2 o 4 partes, capó en 2 partes, así no deberían de quedarte ninguna marca.

    I had the same problem, and the problem was caused by not being able to see the wipe marks during application. I have now learnt how to illuminate the surface in such a way to show the wipe marks. ("high spots"). I am applying the coating in a very dimly lit room, and use a very diffuse light to inspect the surface, but it is important to look at the REFLECTION of the light on the surface. The "light" that I am using is a tablet computer, set to display a white screen. The wipe marks show up as areas of darkness. Again - it is critical to look at the reflection of the light, and the light has to have a perfectly uniform beam. For example, I also tried a video panel light, but it didn't work as well, because the individual LEDs in the array can be distinguished, even though they are covered by a diffuser. The tablet screen produces a perfectly uniform reflection.

    Nope, Crystal Serum Light is a base coat, you must apply it as first coat. Then, you can apply EXOv2 or EXOv3, which is a top coat, on the top of Crystal Serum Light.

    Szymon Kułakowski I’m pretty sure he makes exceptions when filming these videos to make it easier for himself. His track record and accreditations tell us he’s a professional.

    @@energylab227 it might be right, but on the other hand I have less optimistic perspecitve here. There are so many detailing self-made professionals owning certificates and proven track records, but suddely when you take a closer look it turns out they make basic mistakes...like in this case.

    As a professional you should be wearing gloves, mask and eye protection for ceramic coat. Your application is haphazard at best not a consistent crosshatch pattern and applying to fast, you are going to miss spots. Also no mention of number of layers toppers, etc. 👎👎👎
