I am learning so so much on your channel! Thank you for doing all of this :) I learned more from your videos than I did in my nail class (it was only a two day class, but still), like sanitation, not reusing files, capping the free edge with short nails, how to use the drill better and more efficient. Looking forward to learn more as you post more videos :) Also really want to know how high the apex should be when the extension is short vs long, cause the nails I put on my step-mother-in law broke when she changed her sheets, and those were relatively short. a little less than a quarter of an inch outside the fingertip.

As someone who keeps their nails short, is quite active in/outdoors with my 3 kids, I used to go to the salon every 3rd, sometimes 4th week. This was back when there wasn't much gels available, especially here in Alaska! The place I was going to had a gentleman who was extremely adept at the application of acrylics, but he retired & the new guy (family owned business, his son, daughter, & wife also worked together) had an issue with "buffing" my nails after removing the old acrylic down to the quick!!! I once lost almost 3/4 of my thumbnail because of that, of course I haven't had my nails done since, roughly 20yrs ago & single no kids. Seeing these types of videos, I think I'd like to get certified so I can do other's nails along with my own, legally, properly, & professionally with the best tools available. I'm curious, whether or not I should start with gels or acrylics? Thanks to The Nail Hub, I'm learning tons also! I only own about 100 different shades/brands/finishes of nail polishes, files, etc I think it's time to upgrade. Thanks for sharing & have a great day today!

Same here.. I always say let me practice on your nails and he says no before I can get all the words out.. I swear this man is afraid to get anything on his hands but concrete.. so he should be using cream bc I have seen him get some pretty wicked concrete burns and they are so deep.. my daughter was in the NICU so he'd put latex gloves on and you could literally see the glove down in the hole of the burn 😮.. pretty crazy how it can burn the skin
He definitely get husband of the year award!!! Mine will let me do the basic mani/pedi, but that’s it!
I wanted to add a picture of me 'practicing' on my 19 year old son. In turn Chad says 'the things we do for those we love'. Love it 😁
Would you do a video where you do your own gel manicure as it would be somewhat different/more difficult than doing it on someone else?

Absolutely. It really does make it more realistic 👏
I'm about to use an at-home DIY gel kit and lamp for the first time, and this was VERY helpful for a first-timer with gel. Thank you so much for taking the time to make and post this!!!
i absolutely love these videos! They are absolutely one of a kind and I love them. I feel like i am safely learning how to perform my own processes and feel like I will be able to do my own manicures without jeopardizing safety and cleanliness. I have never seen another nail tuber go to this length to teach us diy'ers and new people that want to learn!
Thanks for explaining things so well in your videos. You don't just teach us how to be a nail tech, you teach us how to be a *good* nail tech. And an undertone of chemistry lessons in there too. Absolutely love it!
For DIY-ers it’s difficult to cure each finger and paint another at the same time. I still think it’s a good idea because no matter how careful I am with the wet nails, I still damage. Curing one by one may take a bit more time for DYI but I think it’s worth it.

This is the best video ever, perfect and very professional gel manicure. I'm a professional nails tech and I love your video, perfect vocabulary, excelente way to do nails and great illumination on video.
I love that you got your honey to help out by allowing you to use his hands. Mine also let's me practice on him... "as long as you take it off" 😆
Thank you Liz. I always felt clients would not get the one nail at a time method so I didn't do it. Now that I see you have done it and how successful it is I realise it's not going to look bad or unprofessional. TYSM! I will put it into practice. One little tip if you want to see for yourself concerning capping that I learnt. I was told if a nail is very thin you can get away with capping really well just once with the colour coat meaning you can skip on the 2nd colour coat. This will avoid thick nail tips. Also when capping, instead of applying on nail surface first, I cap then I apply on entire nail. This really helps avoid the thick tip. CND teaches this and it has helped me. Just an idea for anyone wanting to try.😊
First time EVER. YOUR video was pleasant to listen to; easy to understand and do. Can’t thank you enough.
I feel like I’m getting smarter with each one of your videos. Herman’s a dear!
Hi Liz 😀 I would like to say a massive thank you! It makes a huge difference watching and listening to a real professional. Although I spent double the time it took you to do everything, I am so happy and proud of succeeding in doing my gel polish and prepping my nails without any wounding or needing to fix anything, as it happened before. I didn't even feel the panic or anything of the sort while listening to your calming voice. So, thank you so much and please, do keep teaching us - the novices diy-ers - all the good lessons that we need to learn from you! 🙏🙌🙌🙌😉
I saw where you say you are working on products for diy-ers....THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!

I've learned that buffing the nails prior to applying gel polish is so that it has something to adhere to. Back when I had my nails done at least once monthly with acrylic 20yrs ago, same principles. I stopped because of almost losing an entire thumbnail to an overly zealous buffing session!
such a brilliant video and helpful series! Thank you so much, Liz. Look forward to learning more about pricing and the business side of things x
You absolutely rock, Liz! I can’t thank you enough for all I’ve learned from you!
Thanks a lot once again for sharing Liz!❤ Great tips for getting a great manicure! Can't wait for the upcoming videos!

I wasn't aware that a non acid primer would work for gel polish. I've only ever used it when doing acrylics. Thanks for this tip

Thanks so much Liz, I tried this with my client this morning and it went well,,, she even appreciated having something to do by keeping her eye on the timer on the lamp lol.. these videos are absolutely a must watch for anyone doing nails! xxx
Whoopwhoop😃 can’t wait for the other tutorials!

I can not tell you how grateful I am for your tutorials. You have taught me soooo much!!!
👏👏👏 love the video! I'm really learning with this❤ Thank you💖
I love your videos I’m learning things I didn’t even know I need to learn. Like your video on filing. Omg I thought I was filing right, but you showed me better. Thank you so much for doing this your an awesome teacher.
I have watched a LOT of nail videos and this is one of the most informative videos I have seen. Youngnails is doing some really good ones right now since the brother is learning and he asks the right questions that help us. You answer them all without asking! How wonderful! I am a new subscriber and Yes, I clicked on the bell. :)
Thank you so much for this video Liz! Love you!
OMG you are perfect! Thank God I found you! New sub! Hugs from Argentina 💜
Yay! 💕😊Another great video! I started with the one finger method as well. As you start to get used to your gel you can do two fingers, etc. I do four for base coat and thumbs are separate, on the edge of table like you said, but colour still one finger flash cures. Thanks, Liz!
Excellent video. As a client, I like learning the process so I know what to expect and also know that I'm getting good service.
Thank you for the step by step detailed instruction I am starting middle school in January and you are giving me such a leg up thank you very much
Wow! You are a marvelous teacher! Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for this information! I'm going to take a shot at this for the first time this weekend!
Hey Liz! Thank you so much for making all these informative videos! As a beginner in gel, I was able to paint my own nails using potted gel for the first time to near perfection after watching your videos! And they lasted for 2 weeks without any chipping!
You’re awesome thank you for all your time and efficiency ♥️
I tried this technique on myself last night and I love being in control of the gel!! A plus! Yet again you rock. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. Greatly appreciated, have a great day
I love that it's in real time from an experienced tech. I can see what I need to work towards. 👍 Thanks
I love how thorough and detailed you are! You mentioned that your "model"😆 Has ski jump nails (which I do also, didn't know this was a thing), can you discuss other types of nails you encounter and how to work with/correct them to create a better application?
After watching your video I'm a little bit in shock because of what my nails have been through. Earlier this year I had my first experience with gel nails and the technician broke out a multi-tool (or dremel) and sanded my nail plate down to virtually nothing and they're super bendy and flimsy to begin with. I noticed after a while my fingers hurt, and after I removed the gel myself a while later when it was starting to grow out, I had splinters of dried blood. Pressure on my hands hurt and it took a good six months for the damage to grow out. When I look at yours in contrast where you're using a buffing tool, I can't believe these people are still in business. I refused to get a top up on my nails or to go back again because of the amount of damage caused. Thank you for doing this video and educating me, I'll be sure to be super careful on who I pick to do my nails in the future if I ever have the guts to try again.
SO INFORMATIONAL AND BEYOND DETAILED. THANK YOU!
Awesome, not boring at all, thank you for doing what you do!!!!
I'm so glad I found your channel. Thank you for these informative videos. I am learning so much. 🤗☺️

I love that one finger technic. It looks so much easier. Now I'll be doing this on myself and anyone that I do to make the work so much easier without the worry of the possibility of messes occurring. Thank you so much for the fantastic tips.

Your husband is a legend letting you do his nails 🤣🤣🤣😂😂
Thanks for an amazing lesson. I’ve never done gel, so I wanted to check out videos so I have a idea of what to expect. Your video was the best girl. Peace ✌🏽
I really liked this video. I was struggling with little problems with my gel application and curing, and this video helped a lot.
I love your trick for getting the free edge capped on short nails. Thank you so much, you are very talented.

Can I just say that your husband's nails look amazing! Like, even before you did anything to them.
Another great video just seriously my favorite person on KZread. You are making doing my nails so much easier 😍
Thank you for doing these videos on Nail Fundamentals. These have been so helpful, informative and really easy to understand. I am a diyer myself and have learnt so much form these videos.
Thank you so much! I have learnt soo much from your videos! Something that i find with lots of nail tutorial videos is that the client/ model always has really well kept nails/skin/ hands to begin with and so this avoids some really important things when coming to do gel polish services. For example some of my clients have very lots of cuticle and hard skin around nail plate and this then takes lots of time and effort to remove before even starting painting. I dont want to lower my standards by making my treatments /services quicker and not doing such a good job and also want my clients to have the best nails possible and find this tricky to fit everything into my current appointment time which is 45 mins (which sounds like alot but as im the only person at my work place is difficult to fit eveything in including steralising tools between clients, short consultation, making the client a tea or water, deciding on colour and preparing for next client ect. Im also finding that i have lots of air bubbles and debris in my gel polish, i dont shake bottles before use and remove debris before using paint but always end up with some little bits in my polish. Lots of my clients ask is gel polish is bad for you, the way i respond is by talking about how much they look after there nails and skin , how they have gel polish removed and how much care the nail tech takes when carrying out the service, i just hope that im not missing any crucial info to give to my clients about the disadvantages of gel polish. do you have any info or tips? Another thing im curious about is files, i watched your other videos and have heard you talk about files, and sorry if your having to repeat yourself but i think that the quality of the file really matters, as in the cheap ones just dont do the job! what are you thoughts on this? Also i know you have said you use files only once on a customer and throw them away after, was this emery boards or the thicker files? and is there a way of doing this without contributing to more waste going to landfill (as some files have the layer of plastic in-between them). Being as eco friendly as possible is something that s both important to me and the place where i work. Thanks Nathan
Thank you very much! I am a DIYer myself and I appreciate all the instruction! I'm having alot of fun figuring out how to do my own gel nails. Been watching alot of your videos, they are extremely informative. Thank you!!!
Thanks sooo, sooo much for posting your talents. I am just starting out and find you amazing to watch and follow. I will be binge watching all your posts.

This was quite handy. I've been successfully applying my own gel polish for a few years now but the tips here helped me to tweak what I have been doing. I thought that doing one or two nails at a time would slow me down but it doesn't and the results are really professional. Thank you.
