I just got mine in Butte. It was pretty easy. Applied sep 8th $18, went in a few weeks later to get finger printed $131, explained a couple of arrests [reckless driving, warrant, restraining order] via email, completed 8 hr class/shooting qualifications Nov 6th, $185. Entire process was just under 2 months and I never had a face to face with anyone at the sheriff's office. Edit: Final payment of $58 was paid today, Nov 17th, permit will be issued within the next 2 weeks.

@@EliasHernandez-ov2jz No worries, just FYI Sheriff Scott Jones is not seeking election. There are candidates looking to replace him and some of them seem to be anti-CCW so it’s probably better to get the application in.

Is this still the case in 2023? I live in Sacramento and I want to get my CCW. Is self defense still a good reason?

if you were to fail the ccw class can you just reschedule for another class or do you need to redo the whole process? i’m in the sacramento county and i just submitted my application for a ccw, got my appointment in 3 months.

The qualification standard set by the state is pretty easy. With 16 hours of training, there is plenty of time to work out deficiencies.

It was just brought to my attention that the sig p365X is not on the Roster. I am super disappointed because it took me so long to research and decide on the p365X. I think I would have to buy it from an officer? What would you recommend? I am beyond disappointed!!! 😔

Yes unfortunately it is off roster and you would have to find a private party to conduct the transfer. I’m Glock bias so i prefer the Glock 19 or 26.

After ccw training.. what’s the 2nd interview on pick up about?

There is no second interview, once county received the training certificate and process it. They will contact you to pick up your CCW license.

Every two years, you have to attend a 4-hour CCW renewal course to maintain your CCW. Hope this helps.

I’m looking at your website and there are no availability for any dates. Is it really booked up to a point where when going thru all the months all the way up September of 2022 there isn’t anything available?

www.sacsheriff.com/pages/ccw_gun_permit.php Per their website and the DOJ requirements, it’s 4-hour every two years to renew CCW. In Sacramento County, self defense has always been the standard, unlike other counties like SF, Alameda, and Santa Clara.

@All American Safety, if I’m getting my CCW in San Joaquin county can I still take my CCW class with you? Or does it have to be with an instructor in San Joaquin?

What if you fail the 16hr training class? Do you have the opportunity to retake it and pass. Is there a waiting period if you fail? Do the instructors help you and train you to pass?

If you fail, you can retake the class. I haven’t had any students that failed. I’m there to help the students pass.

I posted a question last night on my pc.... but it's not here ? Weird....so i live in Sacramento County and i wanted to finally apply for my ccw. I have no record and nothing to prevent me from getting one. My question is, the order of steps to take. Apply first, get approved, THEN get training completed with in 6 months? Or apply, get training while waiting and hope i get approved? I ask because i see different info on this. That i could spend the money on training. Then be denied and be out that money..... I've seen into saying i must complete it within 6 months of getting it, or its revoked. Which is it? Thanks

Apply, meet with the deputy, deputy says yay or nay, if yay then get training, after training you submit all the training documents and wait a few weeks to come and get your permit.

Yes, it’s a long wait, but keep checking the schedule since applicants do cancel, leaving spots to be filled.

You can only apply with the county you reside in and can provide proof of residency.

It’s statewide, but just as you are aware, different jurisdictions with different DAs will handle cases differently so it’s always good to understand the jurisdictions you are stepping in.
