I teach Collision repair and refinishing at a public high school and these videos are the only ones that I show my students outside of the curriculum I use simply because it aligns well and by that I mean with anyone able to post on youtube it is full of videos that are supplying incorrect procedures, these videos are not those they are great for my beginners. I'm an older female who just purchased an '05 with a body in really great shape except for the back hatch ( where the manufacturer put screws to hold the license plate light and automatic latch sensor right thru sheet metal where moisture can seep behind and it rusted out ) so now I'm repairing my vehicle myself for my very first time. Some awesome tips and tricks to hopefully allow me to be proud of my finished product. You explained it well enough that even this newby has confidence to succeed!

With the tape trick, you want to make sure when you wipe the filler an pull the tape off make sure it's sanded before laying down the filler for the bottom or you can come up with a small trench line in between them. Seen this happen so much. I usually don't lay down tape until I'm sanding and just sand up to the tape to make a crisp original body line. Great video btw!

!. Never apply body filler over paint. 2. If you go past the time limit on epoxy primer all you have to do is scuff it to create a mechanical bond.

What is best to use a peice of glass or card , for mixing bodyalu filler , just to be sure I mix it properly

So today, I learned For dents: sand to metal apply Contour premium filler. Use 36, 80, 180 grit. Epoxy primer over metal, then use fillers.

Thought this was about mixing and sanding... guess I'll keep looking.

I have a 2000 Ford F250 and on my bed the factory paint has chipped off and i touch it and feel off how do i fix the and a small dent from a basketball i used a suction cup to pull it out but it still there but pops back in

Niko G You basically have two options. The first is to heat-shrink the area, meaning you heat an area the size of a quarter, move the metal with a hammer-dollie and then quench it with cold water to shrink the metal. You should definitely have the right equipment and someone experienced working with you, or learn the proper technique from videos. The other option is to cut out the dent and weld in a patch panel. There are videos on our KZread Channel showing these techniques. Thanks for the interest in Eastwood.

for that sailpanel that kevin took out the lead filler on that was steel but the filler he said he going to use is aluminum filler so my question is that can be applied to steel or aluminum ? even tho its called aluminum filler i have t-top cutlass gbody and i took off vynal top and now it shows factory lead filler weld where quarter panel meets the roof so im guessing i should somehow remove that lead filler and put that aluminum filler over ? how would i go bout removing it and what all should i do after to get ready for primer n paint just fill aluminum to bare metal then body filler then glazing puddy then 2k primer then epoxy then paint is that correct im new to this but would like correct direction and thanks for the videos very helpfull

+GBODY .CUTLASS You can melt the lead out with a hand torch

So if I understand this correctly.... lets say I: 1. media blast 2. epoxy primer 3. waited more than 5 days to do filler I should then: 1. sand down to the metal to apply the filler OR 2. sand down to the metal, re-epoxy, then filler within 5 days In other words, don't just scuff up 6 day old epoxy and apply filler over it. Right?

you can just scuff the epoxy and bondo.

So about .5 inch is way to much lol one of my car has a lot of it
