In today’s video we will be breaking down and recreating some Dan Koe style animations. It’s a super simple yet very effective style of animations. It heavily relies on writing/story telling and the use of simple and abstract shapes to tell that story. Super fun to work with and it allows for a bunch of creativity.As always, thank you for watching!

This was brilliantly made, easy to understand and spot on to the nature of a Dan Koe animation. Definitely going to binge watch all you other videos!
hey mapal, great videos! one thing I noticed in a few videos of yours now is that when you want to cut a layer, I see you use cmd+shift+d and then delete the duplicates, but there is a shortcut built into after effects that does this without having to manually delete the extra layers! if you hit alt/option + ] it will cut off the layer at the playhead. it works with hitting [ instead of ] to cut off the layer at the left side of the playhead. hitting the square brackets without using alt/option will just move the layers in/out point to the playhead. it's a small optimization but maybe you or some other viewers find this useful!

All other Dan Koe tutorials are recreation of his videos. I loved that you made a tutorial using your own elements and story. That helps quite a bunch to explain it better than the others. Kudos!

I'm new here in your channel. It's been 2/3 days maybe here. Your every video is literally awesome. From my point of view this channel is literally a hidden gem. Wish you good luck on your journey. Also I've a question, in many of your videos there are tons of sfx that I literally don't know where to get. So if you could mention the sites, it'd be a great help.

Hi maypal,I saw your other tutorials that you had made earlier and i think they are really great but i can't follow the tutorials, because you don't leave an asset of the photos and videos you have in your tutorial, so if you can do that in future tutorials it would be great or maybe could you tell me the reason why you dont share the assets used in the tutorial? (You are a great teacher)
@mapal

Thank you! I release the project files on my Patreon. With that being said some files you aren’t allowed to share from a legal perspective. There is a big difference between using something in your work and redistributing the original file. In those cases I give a direct link to where I found said asset. Hopefully that makes sense!

How did you change the colour of the playhead and other elements of your AE programme to that lime green?

You can change it in settings although its a bit more complicated than that. There are a good few videos on it if you look up something like "change colour of after effects"
Bro, what do you use to record screen + webcam ? i noticed you don't use OBS to do yr tutoriel ! Appreciated

You look like to be a crack in After Effects dude, big respect! Can I ask you a question? How do you have "rounded fill edges" with Ellipse extrusion in After Effects (C4d render), I mean, you know, having "true bold" round and fill extrusion (like a donut?) not a thin one (try it in the software if isn't understandable (sorry for that)). Sorry I'm a noobie and still dont find the solution in the internet
@mapal
4 ай бұрын
Thank you hahah! As far as I know Ae for some reason doesn’t have spheres or donuts. Honestly don’t know why. You can fake it using a few different effects but your best option is probably using cinema4d lite to get a donut shape in your comp

When you use overlord how do you make it so your 'shape' only consists of one layer? When I import a png to AI and use image trace --> expand, I get 10+ individual shape layers that then also get imported to AE. Do you have a solution to this?
@BoeierShorts

I like importing it into Ae as one and then if I need to split it up I use Motion Tools’ extract shapes feature! Gives me a bit more flexibility
