How do you get your aperture down to F 3.5? My Canon T 5i only goes down to F5.0

@@ChooChooRosenbloom It depends on the capability of the LENS, not the camera. If you want to to a lower aperture (like something smaller than a F/5.0, you will need to buy a different lens that allows that setting. My experience is the lenses with the ability to have smaller apertures are more expensive.

@@ChooChooRosenbloom if you pick up a Canon “nifty 50” or 50 mm prime lens for portraits, you can get one that opens to 1.8 for around $125!

I'd given up on learning how to use a camera and photography until I found your videos. I've watched so many others trying to explain these points but your clear communicating makes it easy to understand. Thank you so much!

I must say that this is the clearest and articulate example of how to adjust the shutter, aperture and, ISO that I've seen. I was baffled by each until I saw this example. Thank you for breaking it down and communicating and clarifying in simplistic language how to do this.

This was a great tutorial with straight to the point and detailed instructions. I am so thankful I found your channel.

I took film photography classes in highschool way back in the early 2000s just when film was becoming obsolete. I'm using a manual digital camera (EOS Rebel T6) for the first time this week on a trip to the UK. I was confounded by the controls, and the manual that came with the camera wasn't helping me. Thank you so much for this crash course. Very concise and easy to understand. You've helped me a great deal.

Obviously I don't know what lens you already have, so I'm going to recommend looking at the CANON EF-S 18-200MM IS because of it's great focal range.

This is by far the best camera teaching I have ever had. Brilliant

So I noticed on the auto mode on my EOS Rebel T6i, it can take a photo with an ISO at 4000. But how can that be, I cant find a way anywhere in any of the settings to get the ISO at 4000. The only ISO settings available are in preset increments. Any idea how I would go about setting my ISO to 4000?

An interesting question and one I'm afraid I cannot answer for you. I don't have a T6i but you could try going to the menu > Custom functions > Exposure level increments.

I literally learnt more in this 7mins than a day reading

Auto mode are for the people who buy a DSLR camera and walk out of the shop calling themselves a professional photographer.

Thanks for a clear explanation of these essentials. I've just started a DLSR photography course and told to go and play around with these settings. However, I didn't know how to change shutter speed or aperture. So simple now. I can now go and experiment with these settings. Great video with simple explanations.

This has just made my day! Thank you so so much. I have a canon and have been using auto for about 2 years as I was convinced I wouldn't understand all the different settings, which has limited my photography as 8 like to photograph birds in nature and the camera was always reluctant to focus 🤦🏼‍♀️ constantly in and out of focus. Going to sit with my husband and watch together to get his support and encouragement as I now learn to use my camera effectively.
